Daily scripture readings. School weeks typically run five days so
that's five religions kids can learn about in school.
Who else remember school cafeterias
that only served fish on Fridays because
of, you know, Catholic sensibilities.
I don't remember the fish part however I do remember in NYC what was
called "release time' which allowed students to leave school at 14:00
on Wednesday's in order to attend religious education at their church
or synagogue. I'm from the 60's and I also do not remember 10
Commandments in class either. Pledge of allegiance every morning yes,
and the Jehovah's witnesses in the class were not required to stand
and recite. Nobody cared either way.
These days, at least in NYC, schools are setting up areas for Muslims
to pray during Ramadan.
See the difference?
