• Q Code Reader

I have tried 3 x Q Code Scanners but the code I want to scan is among a
dozen or so on a page and all those I have tried just grab the first code
    they can read.
Anyone come across one that will let me line the 'phone up until it is picking up the right square and then let me press a button to start scanning?

Dunno the answer, so consider this my first pass at solving the problem...

I tested QR code scanners for the team a while ago, and these are still on
my device (which means they didn't fail since I allow one strike only).

    com.scanteam.qrcodereader
    krow.dev.qrcode
    com.secuso.privacyFriendlyCodeScanner
    barcodescanner.qrscanner

But all seemed to be automatic in that they grab QR codes if they see them. Apparently you can tell them to not go to the net URL, but they still scan.

However, some scan saved images, so a workaround is to snap a QR photo.
Some have "batch scan" too, which saves all the scans so you can pick one.

Looking up the OP's specific issue, this shows up as a possible solution:
QR & Barcode Scanner by TeaCapps com.teacapps.barcodescanner

It has ads though, and none of my apps ever has ads (even though it's impossible on my phone for an ad to even show up), so I didn't test it.

Four sheets of paper to cover everything except the code you want to
    scan does not work?

Didn't cross my mind, I thought the camera would let me choose.

However I used sticky notes and it worked brilliantly so thank you :-)

    You're welcome.

For the future: BinaryEye allows to reduce or enlarge the section which
is scanned, so you may have a better chance to scan the right code.

Alternatively, just have a sheet of plain paper with a QR code-sized
hole in the middle, and move it around just to show the code you want.
