Recently (I assume the new updated version of the client) the bar at the bottom with the home button, search, notifications etc. has started
moving randomly from the bottom of the screen to the LHS.
This is in portrait mode.
On my phone it then randomly moves back for no apparent reason.
On my tablet it seems to be fixed on the LHS.
I assume that there is a logic behind this.
For the tablet it is fine - there is enough screen space with the tablet
in portrait mode to have the controls on the LHS and still have easily readable content.
On the phone it is a right pain because you lose about 1/3 of the screen
to the controls (which auto hide when they are at the bottom of the
screen).
In landscape mode on the phone (where a side bar would make sense) it
still shows the original behaviour of an auto hiding bar at the bottom
of the screen.
My search skills haven't let me find any information on this.
Does anyone know what is going on?
Updating to add that it seems to happen when the X Client is active and
the phone is moved around a lot, such as when you are holding the phone
and get out of a chair, or roll over in bed.
I suspect the rapid switching of rotation between portrait and landscape confuses some code in the client and switches to the mode for a larger
screen.
After an indeterminate time it switches back.
So very irritating but not a total disaster.
Cheers
