My Samsung S24FE will not play the AVI video files that my trail camera
puts out. I'm told that VLC video player (for Android) will.

At the moment, I only need VLC to play the AVI videos. I'd like the videos >> that the phone already plays to be played with tne native app(s?).

    Can this be done?

No. You need to recode the AVI videos to a format, what the native app understands. Usually MP4 or MKV.

AVI, MP4 and MKV are all containers.
You also need the video to be encoded using a codec that the player understands.
AVI, MP4 and MKV can all contain video encoded with almost any codec.

AVI is also a very old container format so the problem here could be due
to the ancient nature of the AVI container or to the use of an unusual
    or ancient codec.
