I have sorted out a Digital Ocean Droplet and set it up as a dedicated
pine box with alpine set up to fetch my gmail and I am basically running
my business email via Alpine very an ssh on the Droplet. That's why I am
on USENET. I thought, "why not see if there's anything going on on
newsgroups since the 00s. So, hello! I just throught I would say hello. I
am posting via ALPINE 2.26 from a droplet I call pinebox.

    Good on you, mate!
"Hello!" from someone that's been on pine/alpine since

Welcome back man. I've only been using alpine about five years - since returning to a console life. I wouldn't go back.

I don't use it for usenet though, just email. Though it ought to be a
    fun experiment.

I use gnus on emacs for usenet.

I have never been clever enough to graduate to vi, vim, pico, and pine. I
am not in emacs class, alas.

There's always room for more users. Emacs is central to my computing
life but it took years to get there.

If I type emax on my local Linux Mint box it auto sshs me to my Droplet on
DO and it automagically opens Emacs on the remote box. Once I am there, I
just work on the Turorial. I did buy an Emacs quick reference from
O'Reilly so I am really focused. Modern Emacs is so much more modern and naturally mapped to arrow keys and all of that than it was back in the
    day! I am aspiring!
