    New new flag "-command" for regsub in Tcl9 is really wonderfull!

    Now that I see it, I miss it retroactively. :)

    But why took so much time to come to the idea?!

    I agree that it is an essential feature.
    Well, it was added to TCL 9 7 years prior to its release.
    It slept due to no release action.
    But it was always there since 9 years. https://core.tcl-lang.org/tips/doc/trunk/tip/463.md

    And for me a very critical point is, that it is not in Androwish.
    Christian is willing to include it, if a patch is provided.
