Reason I ask, my wife and I are currently watching all the Star Trek series, and we're a good chunk of the way through Voyager, which means that Enterprise is next. I really want to skip that intro.

Six years ago, the team at Netflix introduced an idea for skip forward and skip backward buttons in 10-second increments. Johnson and his team found that Netflix users were manually fast-forwarding the first five minutes of series they were watching. This confirmed to Johnson that viewers were indeed skipping past the intro and thus the Skip intro button was born.
The company spent two years revamping the short branded clip that introduces viewers to a new episode or movie, a spokesperson told Fast Company. The previous intro simply featured Netflix's logo on a white background. Now, Netflix's iconic "N" appears on a black background before the camera zooms into the letter to reveal several colorful vertical beams.
Netflix assured followers on Twitter that its two-beat intro sound would remain unchanged. Viewers will start to see the new animation on all originals premiering on or after Feb. 1, the company said. It will be swapped into other Netflix originals "over the coming months," Netflix added.
There's a certain excitement that comes with seeing a new anime intro. Maybe it reveals the entire plot in one intricately crafted sequence, or maybe it puts painstaking detail into portraying events that never happen in the show itself. Well, in preparation for the upcoming release of its Dragon's Dogma anime, Netflix just revealed the opening credits animation for the series and... yep, it's definitely a Netflix show.
The animation in the intro, while extremely reminiscent of many Netflix shows which came before, does fit with the story as it's currently known. Mournful skeletons are displayed throughout, seemingly representing the unbidden immortality thrust upon them by one of the titular Dragons. The fire and ash motif seems to be a pretty obvious reference to the Dragons themselves, while the opening shot of a crumbling heart goes in line with the fantastical idea of immortality stemming from the loss of one's heart to a Dragon.
For viewers who are binge-watching a show, it can be annoying to have to watch the opening credits and hear the theme song numerous times, so Netflix is testing an option that allows viewers to skip the intro altogether.
Netflix offers you an option to skip intros in TV shows. But it doesn't work automatically, which means you have to select it for each episode. Thankfully, there are plenty of Google Chrome extensions that can take care of that "Skip intro" button for you.
Once installed, this free browser extension automatically clicks the "Skip intro" button as soon as it appears on your web browser. All you have to do is head over to the Google Chrome Web Store and download it on your computer.
Auto Skip Intro does the job, but it doesn't allow you to personalize the experience at all. For instance, if there's a show for which you prefer to watch the intros, your only option is to disable or delete the Auto Skip Intro extension.
Netflix Extended is for those who are looking for more control. Similar to Auto Skip Intro, it eliminates the need for you to manually skip intros on Netflix. But along with that, it also comes equipped with more tools that allow you to customize several other elements of your Netflix web player.
Recently I've cloned the Netflix's intro animation using only CSS and I got some great feedback about it, so I thought it would be great to share a bit about the development process of the animation step-by-step.
Interestingly, the button was introduced for only the web version in 2017 and limited to just 250 series in the US, UK, and Canada (films were excluded). The button only made its way to TV in August 2017 and to mobile apps in May 2018. Well, it is now a feature that most Netflix users will swear by. And in fact, most other streaming services have their own version of the same as well.
Nothing kills a good Netflix binge-watching session like a really long show intro or those pop-ups that ask if you are in fact still trying to watch yet another episode of that show after a few hours.
