    Ok, that resolution is funny.

    I just wish "they" had left the Tab key above the shift key. I'm
    still hitting CAPS LOCK when I meant to tab over after all these
    years.

    I convert CapsLk to a control key:

    setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps

    And to not have to reach for the Esc key, I use a little program
    called "xcape".

    <https://flenniken.net/blog/xcape/>

    The github site(s) are 404, but one can install xcape in Debian
    and Arch at least. It has a man page.

    I have it set up so that a brief (< 500ms) press on CapsLk acts
    like Esc. With a long press it acts like a Ctrl key.

    Doesn't happen to me.

    Instead, when typing blind, sometimes the little finger instead of
    hitting the "a" hits the caps lock, and instead of the 's' I hit the
    'A', etc.

    This post has triggered a lengthy discussion across four newsgroups.

    It has nothing to do with the C or C++ programming languages.

    The article is interesting, but Lynn, please don't post to clc or
    clc++ unless there's some relevance to C or C++.

    Everyone else: Please consider trimming the newsgroups if you post
    a followup.

    My caps-lock key doesnrCOt do Caps Lock. ThatrCOs not a function I feel
    any need for. Instead, I have repurposed it as the Compose key <https://wiki.wlug.org.nz/ComposeKey>.

    So maybe you'd want to drop the windows NG

    I have repurposed the Windows key as Compose. I have not needed yet to repurpose caps lock. I might put it as the Meta key, but as I don't use
    Emacs, I felt no need.

    Lawrence, you edited the Newsgroups: line. Why did you keep

    I find that (aka the rCLSuperrCY key) far more useful for other purposes,
    as an extra modifier key. It doesnrCOt seem to be used in any standard
    key sequences in Emacs, for example. So I use it to define a bunch of
    custom ones (fewer keystrokes than with the
    reserved-for-user-definition CTRL-C prefix).

    Also I have it defined in my window manager as a replacement for Alt
    for window positioning functions. That way it doesnrCOt clash with
    various useful Alt-click functions in Blender.
