I finally went to GIMP 2.10 as I was having font problems with
2.8.
Works fine, but I get an error message at start up:
The procedure entry point g_file_test could not be located
in the dynamic library C:\Program Files\GIMP\2\bin\libgimp-2.0.dll

most likely it has to do with not matching g'mic versions.

Thanks. You are correct. GMIC was not installed.
I unistalled GIMP 2.10, removed the .gimp2.8 directory in my user
path, reinstalled GIMP 2.10.
The downloaded GMCI installer is called
gmic_2.8.0_gimp2.10_win64
Is this the correct one? This is what I had used earlier and this is
what I see on the website given above. I installed it, but when
GIMP starts up, it issues the same error message and I see that
GMIC is no in the Filters menu.
Any help will be appreciated.
thanks
gmic_2.8.0_gimp2.10_win64
Something broken in the above installer ... if it is the correct
one.
I downloaded the zip archive and stuck the contents
(directory named gmic_gimp_qt) in
C:\Users/[my_directory]\.gimp_2.10.
Works fine as far as I can tell.

if you can use g'mic within Gimp you should have solved the problem.
I looked at my g'mic version and I use 2.6.4 .... win64.
It looks like installing 2.8.0 creates new problems <(sigh >.
Thanks for the warning.
