    Hi,

    Gimp 2.20.22 in Debian 11 here.

    The tool window at the left of the main gimp window is visible at http://easthope.ca/Gimp.png .

    Several tools including rectangle select are absent. How can the
    missing tools be restored?

    I'm on an older version. On mine, the config is located in

    Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Toolbox

    There's a scroll list under Tools Configuration, where the order and individual visibility of the tools can be controlled. There's also a
    icon for resetting the order and visibility of the tools.
