There was a large fire at the ATT CO in Gardena CA. Reports say it was
the GRDNCA01 office at the 16200 block of Vermont Avenue, vs. GRDNCA02
    several blocks away.

    Three adjacent buildings were involved.

The fire started external to the building in some brush. It soon spread
    to the structures.

ATT is reporting loss of POTS, broadband and cellular service.

I imagine that they won't be restoring the POTS service in the area. I received a letter from AT&T some time ago which stated, pending
legislation, that POTS service would be "grandfathered" this year. I
can keep my telephone and 3 Mb/s ADSL (former Ameritech Ohio), but if I
want to make any changes to my service, or even move addresses, I cannot
keep either service. I guess it will work in place until the copper
rots to the point of not working. I still have a reliable dial tone.
