The Social Security Administration has recently
mandated additional security authorization for
logging in online. One method is, once you've
entered your username/password, their system will
send your phone a one-time code number.
If you don't have a "textable" phone, it will call
you up with a synthesized voice and read out the
number to you.
So... my Omnipoint cellphone is ID'ing this call
as "Scam Likely".
After an annoying amount of time and exertion, I
found out what seems to be the reason...
Because the sending number is a valid and high
value (to spammers) ID given that people seeing
"Social Security" will answer... plenty of assholes
have been faking this caller ID.
So when people have answered, lots of them have
reported it as spam/scam, and this has gotten into
the data base my cell carrier uses for its dip.
Damn them all to all
(yes, I've reached out to the cellular
carrier and other channels)
