• problem moving up to 5.7

    I am having a problem moving up to 5.7.
    I remember there is a way of getting 5.7 to act like an earlier
    release, some way of setting mode. I have read the manual
    sections on mode and nothing rings a bell.

    It may have been as simple as removing the mode statements, but I
    can't figure out how to do that. Whenever I set global sql_mode
    = 'whatever' the new mode is added to the mode string.

    I forgot to mention that this is a legacy PHP system of about 100,000 lines so rewriting it is not an option.

    The only option you have is to upgrade, ohter options will cost much
    more time in the (near) future.
