• Database design tool

I just found out the database design tool (ERD Concepts) that I've found
almost tolerable for the last few years, and which incidentally also
has native Ingres support, has been discontinued.

It was never better than not-so-flakey-as-to-be-completely-unusable. I
chose it because at the time it was just the least terrible of a comprehensively hateful class of tools.

The problem back then was that all such tools were designed by people
who didn't understand--and in fact seemed to hate--databases. They
solved few of the problems that needed solving and perpetuated a
lot of really bad practices and misconceptions.

So now I'm in the market for a new design tool.

Can anyone suggest something that doesn't implement 50-year old thinking
that was garbage even in its day? (I'm looking at you, Peter Chen.)

    Roy

PS: If anyone is interested, ERD Concepts can still be downloaded for
free, on an MIT licence, from https://www.erdconcepts.com/download.html
