The YouTube channel Asianometry recently had a video about the

A. "Josh" Fisher, the man behind it:

In that video, he noted that a lot of chips with a VLIW architecture
are still being sold, so it isn't a "failed" technology.
I was aware of the TMS320C6000 as a VLIW chip that still existed, but
I didn't know if it was really popular.
However, in researching the subject further, I encountered a mention
of the ST200 which apparently is still widely used for embedded video processing.
