• The F word.

    From Sylvia Else@sylvia@email.invalid to aus.tv on Wed Sep 22 22:44:46 2021

Have I been leading a very sheltered life?

I've been watching stuff on Stan (absent Covid-19, that would never have happened). Some of the dialogue seems to consist 50% of the F word.

I know this word gets used by people, but so much? Even in those
programs that do not appear to be deliberately celebrating their freedom
to use the word, it appears in every other sentence.

    It's really quite irritating.

    Sylvia.

More so is the other F word "Funding" now used endlessly by countless lost-cause chasers.

Huh. Sounds like yet another hint that those TV on-demand services
aren't for me. The other is all the ads they show on real TV, which
have a remarkable knack for featuring things I have absolutely zero
    inclination to watch.

Mind you, the offerings on broadcast TV are abysmal as well -
repeats everywhere. I'm still slowly working my way through Alfred
Hitchcock Presents downloaded from the Internet Archive, not much
risk of an F word in that. It's that or my DVD/VHS collection a lot
    of the time.

It's a (poor) substitute for plotlines and good acting. It's why I
    rarely watch movies these days.

I watched "Hidden" which has quite a lot of dialogue in Welsh, with
subtitles. They even use the F word in the subtitles as a translation of something in Welsh.

If you watch a comedian live you will notice a lot of swearing.

I think it is because they are allowed to do it on stage, when they
can't do it on prime time TV.

Maybe the same issue applies to Stan.

**Clearly, you have not seen any prime time TV (in Australia) lately.

Personally, I don't give a fuck either way, but I understand that
parents might not want their children to pick up bad habits.
