An Australian version of the classic NBC comedy is currently in production, according to a report by Variety. Hannah Howard (Felicity Ward) will be the person in charge of this new iteration.

The American version of the hit show aired from 2005 to 2013. oThe Officeo followed everyday employees working at the fictional paper company Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania. One of the most iconic members of the
staff was manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell).

oThe Officeo was based on the British comedy of the same name starring Ricky Gervais as the head honcho.

Other oOfficeo spinoffs exist in other countries, including France, Canada, Chile, Israel, and the Middle East, the outlet noted.

The newest Australian version will feature employees of a packaging company called Flinley Craddick being forced to work from home after COVID shutdowns. Manager Hannah will go to great lengths to keep her ooffice familyo together despite these changes.

One of the most beloved aspects of the American version of oThe Officeo was the outlandish and irreverent humor, which one of the showAs stars said would never be accepted in todayAs political climate.

Mindy Kaling acknowledged that the popular NBC comedy couldnAt exist in todayAs hyper-sensitive, politically correct culture and said she believed most characters owould be canceled.o

oThat show is so inappropriate now,o Kaling said during an interview with
Good Morning America in December.

oThe writers who IAm still in touch with now, we always talk about how so
much of that show we probably couldnAt make now,o she said.

oTastes have changed, and honestly what offends people has changed so much now. I think that actually is one of the reasons the show is popular, because people feel like thereAs something kind of fearless about it or taboo that it talks about on the show.o

The newest version of oThe Officeo will be available to stream on Prime Video worldwide sometime in 2024.
