    What Australia has now
If Australians can't afford children because incomes have fallen to
low why would the government think the mass immigrants will be able to
    afford children?

Still won't stop them aging either and increase a problem of not
enough income earners that we are having now!
Not seeing these mass-immigrants buying houses now but needing
    accommodation.
    Presently..
With private sector jobs shrinking wages are through cost of living
inflation of real dollar value dropping, many taking multiple jobs to
raise income (babies are now off agenda)

To live in Sydney now one needs a realistic annual income od
AU$200,000 to AU$400,000 to make ends meet and buy a home
The "Bank of Mum and Dad" is rapidly running out of liquidity. Rather
than young buyers successfully purchasing homes independently because
prices are falling, they are increasingly locked out entirely by high
interest rates, leading many to stay in the family home far longer

In short, importing people who face the same high housing and living
costs does not magically solve the fertility or aging problems, and it demonstrably adds to accommodation demand while supply remains
    constrained.

The structural issuesuhousing supply responsiveness, planning,
construction productivity, childcare costs, and real wage
growthumatter at least as much as the headline migration number.

Mad Magazine years ago 50's? had a cartoon showing a modern apartment,
where one sits on a toilet arms lenght from a fridge TV in front
Seems now true humans are now cage hens

That exact satirical prediction from MAD Magazine has literally become
a reality in the Sydney rental market. The specific concept of an
apartment where the toilet, fridge, and main living space are all
compressed within arm's reach is no longer just a cartoon
exaggeration; it is a regular feature of modern inner-city property
    listings.
The "cage hen" reality of modern micro-living is heavily
    documented by several notorious real-world

So not bring able to buy a home or have children
They give more money to spend on cars/etc.

Economists call this phenomenon "doom spending" or "lifestyle
resignation," and it is driving a noticeable shift in consumer habits
    across Australia
The Surry Hills 'Room with a Poo' <https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/may/06/toilet-kitchen-sydney-studio-apartment-rent-surry-hills-australia>
    https://tinyurl.com/azt28vy3
Renters were expected to pay over $500 a week to essentially sleep,
cook, and use the bathroom in the exact same footprint.

The 'Micro-Studio' Explosion: In dense hubs like Potts Point and
Newtown, developers regularly market 18-to-24-square-metre spaces as
    "premium minimalist living."
In reality, these layouts force the resident to stand at the stove
    while practically touching their bed,
treating humans exactly like "cage hens"

A country should not measure success by how many people it can fit
into ever-smaller apartments. It should ask whether ordinary workers
can afford a decent home, raise children and participate in a secure
    community.
