"Every news outlet ran the same "30% rent rise" headline on the same day sourced from a NAB bank report. Turns out they left out one sentence,
and that sentence flips the whole story: this isn't about rents
skyrocketing, it's about house prices possibly falling."

Yeah! As per usual certain nefarious actors love manufacturing self
    fulfilling prophecies.

So this is the expected win-win result for this mass brainwashing
    propaganda dump.

If the rents really go up, guess where does that money go! And as an
added bonus they also torpedo Labor for good.
If rents don't go up those brain dead punters still believe every word
of the manufactured scare propaganda and thus put Labor out of existence.
And thus their favourite puppets get into governments which helps them
    to squeeze us even more.
    Amazing!!! What a real genius!

    The ultra-tall buildings student rat-hole micro-apartments in
Melbourne are about $500 to $600/week. 1-year leases. And boy, are
they small! The floor plans are on AI.
Housing commission apartments are bigger and are similar prices,
though heavily discounted by govt depending of weekly wages of the
    families.

What is the rest of the world doing about rents?
