    Steam asparagus gently until tender, certainly not mushy.
    (4-5 minutes tops)
    Put asparagus in bowl, and squeeze lemon half over the asparagus until fairly well-covered.
    Salt, pepper, and/or butter are optional, but I like the dish as is.

    Simply perfect! It's amazing how delicious asparagus can be with just a squeeze of lemon and a pinch of salt and pepper. I got my water boiling and then placed my steaming basket with asparagus over top. I covered the asparagus and steamed for about 4 to 5 minutes. I had asparagus that was just the right thickness, so it didn't take too long at all to cook.
