their more urbanised fellow citizens and not just in OZ but everywhere
on the planet. In itself that assessment is No condemnation of them.
My wife's family (dairy farmers in Austria) is a good example for that.

I WAS going to ask "Where in Australia is your wives family's
farmland??" My Family HAD Farmland just out of Ararat .... but that's
been gobbled up by Suburbia now!!
Perhaps you wives family are from The Great Land South of The North
Pole, rather than from the Great Southern Land!!

Anywho, I spent fifteen years of my life in Vienna, Austria where I
met my wife and then started my own family. This is kind of
recreation of the defunct Austro-Hungarian alliance at a family
level. ;-)
Her family's farm is at the foothills of the Austrian Alps in the
state of Lower Austria about 130 Km to the west of Vienna.
Although in Australian comparison that ain't too far away from a
very cosmopolitan urban environment at all, but in European terms it
is located within deep country backwaters in political and cultural
terms.
