I don't think music was necessarily better in those 10 years. I do
think that the music of that era was more linked to societal change

Think Clapton--everything from *Fresh Cream* through *Layla and
Other Assorted Love Songs*. All the psychedelic stuff. Even some of
the bubblegum was great. While a lot of the stuff was "linked to
societal change," only a small proportion was activist.
I could have mentioned *House of the Rising Sun*, released by The
Animals in June of 1964, an old traditional musically transformed.
Another traditional executed beautifully was *John Barleycorn Must
Die* in 1970. There was so much innovative music that had nothing to
do with sexual and political liberation. Post '74, the number of
perfect albums--as defined by no weak songs--declined rapidly.
Not a weak song on this one.

I like that album, but I think you're just describing your taste in
music and it's strongly linked to your past.
If boomers, me included,
aren't careful, they won't know any music from after 2000 and then
think there's no good music being made anymore.

For a while there was a nostalgic movement for the music of
the 50s but these days the oldies stations are playing the
music of the 60s and 70s. Pop music music has gone downhill
since then. Call be an old fogy but I still have trouble
thinking of rap as music and find most contemporary music to
be unoriginal.
Okay, you're an old foggy. I like music that I've never heard
before. This Canadian group is certainly playing something I've
never heard before. They've really shaken up the guitar world.
Are they the future of music? I don't think so. When the
backlash comes, it will be swift and powerful.

I don't doubt that they have a fan base, though apparently not
enough fans or exposure that most people would have heard of
them. Of course we can always expect that a band's music would
take us to who new levels when they dress up in costumes like
that.
Their look is a gimmick but the music is characterized by
non-traditional micro-tonal scales and a mix of odd time
signatures. Either one of those will mean you're not going to be
on the music charts. These guys are different, all gimmicks a
side. The band is a sensation in North America and the world.
LOL re: the micro-tonal scales. Lots of guitarists can hit those
same intermediate notes but bending the strings a bit. Itis more
commonly used a way as passing through notes. Then there are the
steel guitars that use a steel or glass tube to move through the
scale and slide it back and forth for glissando or vibrato. It can
be an interesting technique for vocalists but too many singers over
do. IMO it is an annoying problem for a lot of people singing
national anthems at sporting events. It makes me think they lack
the vocal skills to pitch a not withing sliding into it.
If a singer or guitarists hits a micr-tone, it's mostly because
they're out of tune. Nobody's been able to hit quarter notes
successfully - excepting maybe Jeff Beck.
I think that many Trump supporters are like that, Adolf
included.

Godwins law is a pretext for public masturbation ... in which Dr.
Emil Jaccard is now engaging in.

Sometimes I wonder if trump is doing exactly what you do Chef.
I found what it is: narcissistic rage. It's a thing. It's a
disproportionate reaction to a perceived threat of a narcissist's
sense of grandiosity. It fits like a glove.

No, they're entirely different animals and what was on your

Are these women unable to use Wikipedia?
Folks down South are unlikely ever to admit to making a mistake. A
lot of them refuse to say that the Civil War was about slavery. They
prefer to call it the "War for States Rights" or "The War of
Northern Aggression" or some other euphemisms.
They really find it hard, nay impossible, to admit they were wrong.
That's a sad attitude. I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong. Maybe
people with low self esteem have a problem with it.
