People talk about Microsoft bloat, but Apple beats them hands down. I
have a 5th generation iPad Air, 64GB storage. It was a good machine
until it got an automatic upgrade from iPadOS 18 to 26. Now the OS takes
up 26.38GB, and OS data takes another 11.2 GB, that's 58.7% of total
storage just for the OS, and there doesn't seem to be a way to downgrade
    back to 18. Ridiculous.

can you plug a thumb drive into it for storage? and I suppose they think
most ppl these days use online storage

Another point, there have been several patches to correct minor
problems. Each of these need 11GB of temporary space to run. So, to keep
the system up to date, you need to keep another 11GB free.
