Hope that works? Jesus , even the prologue rings a bell...

From Book 1: The warning signs were impossible to ignore. Massive
Chinese naval exercises. American allies scrambling to form desperate coalitions. Intelligence analysts tracking ominous military buildups
    while Washington descended into paralysis.

State Department analyst David Kenner sees the storm approaching, but no
one in power will listen. Across the Pacific, Captain Jax Miller
commands Task Force Vigilance Australian and allied warships operating
in increasingly hostile waters. In TaiwanrCOs mountains, Dr. Lin Mei-Chen prepares evacuation routes for a crisis she prays will never come.

In BeijingrCOs war rooms, Senior Colonel Li Zhimin witnesses preparations
for an operation that will either establish China as the worldrCOs
dominant power or plunge the Pacific into the largest conflict since 1945.

From cyber warfare to submarine hunts, from WashingtonrCOs corridors to TaiwanrCOs threatened shores, professional soldiers and intelligence
officers face impossible choices as the global order fractures. When superpowers choose sides and traditional alliances crumble, individual
courage becomes the only currency that matters.

    Washington wonrCOt act.

    Beijing wonrCOt stop.

And the Pacific is about to burn.

Interesting, I'm currently reading something similar but in the one I'm reading Russia is the aggressor, they have been trying to get China

Wow. book 10... I love series, esp in order...

Another author you may like is Larry Bond, (best mates with Tom Clancy (dec)..) He didnt write a huge amount of books like Clancy, but what he
did was awesome, and his best imho was Red Phoenix, Red Storm Rising, (co-authored with Clancy.), and Vortex.

Larry Bond was also the creator of a naval warfare sim called Harpoon.
This game kept me up at night, wishing my sub launched missiles would
get through. It's actually been used by the US Navy as a training aid.

    from Wiki: "Harpoon gaming system

Author Larry Bond at Origins 2018
Bond's Harpoon gaming system was first published in 1980. Designed as a general-purpose air, surface, and submarine naval simulation, it
combines playability with a wealth of information on modern naval
weapons systems. Designed for the entry-level player, it has found
acceptance in both the commercial market and the professional naval
community. It is used at the Naval Academy, several ROTC installations,
and on several surface ships as a training aid."

It's old, and not a patch on the newer sims, but fuck, it was fun! Even
back in the days on an Amiga 500. :-) I bought the lot, inc the Harpoon Battlebook. Harpoon and Civilization 2. Probably accounted for 20 years
of gaming. Still play Civ 2.

Never liked Clancy, especially now when his name is in big letters on
the cover, and the name of the guy who actually wrote the book is in
smaller letters below. Same with Clive Cussler.

Apparently that happens because the publishers own the rights to the
name and use a dead authors name thinking that the books will sell
better with a best selling authors name on the cover.
Robert Ludlum died in 2001 but there were quite a few books with his
name on them well after he died.

I've got a couple of non-fiction books on the go at the moment, "Dark
sun" about the race between the Yanks and the Russians to get the H
bomb, and "Commander in cheat" about Trump, who even lies and cheats
    at golf.>

I read for entertainment so I only occasionally read non fiction.

I'll read anything that I find interesting. I was the last kid in the
class in kindergarten to learn to read, but, once I got the hand of it,
    they couldn't stop me.

Wow.-a book 10... I love series, esp in order...

Most of what I read are book series, from murder mysteries, scifi and
    spy/special forces ops.
I've read a series of British detective books by LJ Ross, I'm even
planning on going to the UK this time next year to visit a couple
    of locations in the books.
We have been invited to stay with my youngest sons "in laws" who
live in Surrey and go to the Goodwood Festival of Speed so whilst
there I plan on visiting some sites in the UK Newcastle area where
    the books were based.

As you'll be in Surrey, it's easy to take a train to London and visit
