All car manufacturers are trying to do that. Laws, such as those that
state parts supply be maintained for, IIRC, a minimum of 10 years from
the date a car is sold, currently prevent that. They are also
desperately trying to restrict repair information as well.

Car maker shave been trying to control the supply of parts since cars
were first invented but various consumer laws have stopped them.
There is quote allegedly from Henry Ford which goes something like "
give me control of all parts and service and I will give the cars away
    for free".
Fortunately he was never allowed to do that.
Law makers need to make sure that greedy manufacturers can't get away
    with this shit.

There has been a major court case in the US, farmers suing John Deere
for the right to repair their own farm gear. They won.

John Deere have been in trouble for years over the right to repair,
despite winning a court case I still wouldn't be confident that JD will provide tractor owners with repair and service help.
Best thing that JD owners can do is buy another brand tractor, JD might
get the hint when their sales drop to zero.
Of the car companies Bugatti is by far the worst, at least they are very
low volume and don't affect too many people but they won't even sell an
owner any parts and no way will they provide data to service their cars.
For a normal service on a Veyron the price starts at 20,000UK pounds and
goes up from there, you can't even buy filters from Bugatti.
Several UK Youtubers who own Bugattis have been having a huge fight with Bugatti and it looks like the owners are winning.

If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it :)

The thing with tractors is that they have gone from the most basic of
vehicles to having controls more like an airliner. Watching Clarkson's
Farm seeing him wrestling with the controls of his Lamborghini tractor
is quite amusing, but I'd think that most people would find it a steep learning curve to operate one.

Exactly but Bugatti are still a bunch of crooks.

Can't blame him for being confused with that or any modern tractor, the
    tech is pretty out there.
Only last night I watched episode 4 of season 5 and he was operating a
remote self driving tractor which is an amazing bit of kit, the episode
where they visited the Dutch potato farm was impressive, the Dutch
farmer was very clever, apparently drones are banned in his part of the
EU so he had his farm declared as an airport.
The automated floating Dutch dairy farm was also amazing.
