Excuse me, do you still believe any utterance coming from the mouth of
    D.T.? I'd doubt it, even if he said that 2 + 2 = 4.

I wonder if it is any more than a restatement of the long established arrangement where the US had pretty much a free hand to build bases in Greenland?

The Danish politicians play it carefully and utter only satisfaction
that an agreement has been reached. We don't want to upset the Orange
Bomb until the papers have been signed. So we learn nothing about the
    details.

One of our military experts says that it's probaly not more than the old agrement from 1951, but Trump has to announce it as a victory in order
not to look like the idiot that he is. He further says that there
probably won't be sent a lot of soldiers to Greenland because it makes
    no military sense.

So much ado about nothing. But Greenland, Denmark and Nato can relax a
    little.

Even when they are signed, they are not worth much. The M.O. for
cessation of hostilities in Iran, which he signed, was torn up a week
    later.

I fear this agreement is a wedge in Greenland's open door. The Americans
will treat it a 'free pass' to trample over Greenland as they see fit.

I thought the wording used by Trump is a good example of Trump's
normal style. Trump doesn't want to have people think of an
arrangement he's brokered as simply something that results in a
    successful "deal".

He wants to make it something where he's vanquished the opposition and triumphed over great opposition.

Hence, the "total control" even if it's the same arrangement
previously agreed on. He's counting on the general public not
actually reading or understanding the agreement, and thinking that
Trump has achieved something not actually achieved because all they
know about the arrangement is his description of the outcome.

I've heard that Churchill worked very long hours, while conserving his
energy (working in bed etc.). He had a lot to deal with, and I suppose
could not delve into the nitty-gritty of everything. The trick in such circumstances must be to have reliable officials, who can boil it all
down to essentials, and then take decisions based on those.

Donald Trump is really quite different. He seems to want to have a
finger in every pie, even those in other people's larders, and even when
those pies have teeth to bite him with. If he's overloaded, he's only
himself to blame. Perhaps he's like a water boatman - not very bright,
and just skating about on the surface.
