What the eff!*@ does "best version of ourselves" mean?

I usually hear the phrase from influencers, bloggers and other
self-appointed busybodies. However the phrase was recently used by the
UK's Shadow(1) Chancellor of the Exchequer on a BBC radio interview. (I forget the context.)

The phrase is usually used by narcissistic people who post images of themselves, e.g. at a party, on a beach or some other exotic locale, on social media. It is an edited version of their 'best' lives.

Who consciously lives a 'lesser' version of themselves?
Are you living the 'best' version of your life? (If not, why not?)

    But of course.
Since you are living in the best of all possible worlds
you do not have any choice about it,

I can't help you with Trump, but getting rich is a matter of effort +

    Good luck getting rich!

Don't panic. Given Trump's increasing belligerence, there is still a possibility he will find a way to kill his own grandfather.

I saw something about Trump's parentage a while ago (in one of Katya
Adler's programmes about Europe, I think). His paternal grandparents
were German - and the Trump family there now don't want to acknowledge America's beloved president. The man himself seems keener on his
Scottish roots than his German ones. (There's probably a joke there
    about root vegetablesrCa.)

I am living the best I can, given age, finances, and health.-a I feel no
need to constantly post about it on social media, though some of it can
be inferred from /side channel attacks/ on my Usenet posts.

Do you think I should post more pictures of myself on BlueSky?

I neither know nor care about BlueSky.

Try TextArt, and post your images on AUE

Most of my A.S.C.I.I. art is N.S.F.W., and hidden by default in this prestigious gallery. I don't know why the horror section is not hidden,
    but here's a /Resident Evil/ licker I made some years ago.
