I was under the impression that Transpondia likes French stylee pronunciation, as witness "feelay" for filet. Coup|- means 'cut',
as in a 'cut-down' (lowered roofline) saloon car.
Blame the French for pronouncing it "coopay".

One of the advantages of being an English speaker is that one can blame
the French for quite a lot.
The Collins dictionary says 'coup|-' comes from 'carosse [sic] coup|-, >cut-off carriage:
<https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/coupe>
rCa and that term goes back a long way:

I was under the impression that Americans did pronounce the second
syllable of coupo at the time, and that the Beach Boys either invented
or adopted "coop" as an intentional abbreviation. Does this ring a bell
with anyone?

A coup|- also describes a railway compartment with seats/beds on one

As in Chick-fill-ay?I read that it was Canadians who stuck an eh? at the end of words; perhaps >the Fren^wQuebecois influence is widespread? eh?
'corse we Brits (FSVoW) have Oil of Olay - that'd pshurely be from the >Spanish. There's also a road (so I'm lead to believe) to where a Man do
