Tonight's episode is titled "Knife to the Heart." I've got a bad feeling
about this episode based on a pre-show podcast Rob Cesternino is doing.
I also saw another preview concerning Zac Brown. Sounds like he designed
the reward but it's not clear at all if there's an advantage involved.
We are in for some cringe. Dee to Zac: "Are you going sing for us?!"
Jeff: "Only for some of you."

    More later.

The last third or so of the episode that focused just on Emily's tribe
was excellent. I did not see things playing out that way after they
finished last in the RC/IC. Mike White made the wrong pitch to save
Angelina. It was good in theory but he totally miscalculated how
Christian would react to being told he was making the same mistake with
Emily that he made with Gabby. I thought it was going to work because
Emily's inability to keep her mouth shut is a huge liability. But some
how the two of them and Steph managed to blindside Mike White.

I felt bad for Dee. She's a true Zac Brown fan and came so close to
getting to hang with him at The Sanctuary. I don't think Tiff could have
    cared less.

We got a Liz mention and clip. We also got my favorite Gabby scene.

Charlie seems to have an unhealthy obsession on wanting to punish Rizo
for not voting for his number one in S49. It really makes a lot of sense
now why he and Maria were so tight in S46. Thank God Liz saved us from
    one of them winning.

I wish Billie Eilish had come up with an idol that stays with the
finder. Gen's found two of them but they are useless to her until Ozzy
    and/or Rizo get booted.

Ozzy's tribe's performance in the IC was brutal. Not having big strong
guys in that challenge was a guaranteed loss.

That was a long Zac Brown segment. He would have been a lot more
impressive if he had used a spear that the players use when fishing.
Ozzy would have caught 80 fish if he had the spear gun Zac used. One
thing about a live reunion for S50 is that Billie Eilish has time to
write a Survivor song (Boomerang?) and perform it live.

I had to laugh when Christian said that Ozzy's angling for a White Lotus cameo. I'm surprised they included that even though it is true. I can
see Ozzy and Emily getting invites.

Once again only one player was booted. Five gone after nine days ups the
    odds for late season fuckery.

    Next Episode

Ozzy's pissed and both losing tribes have to go to TC.

This was one of the most satisfying results for me of any Survivor
episode ever. I really can't stand Mike White and all the fawning done
over him, I don't believe he should have been brought back, and I was
excited beyond belief when he left on a 3-2-1 vote exactly as Christian planned.

I felt bad for Dee. She's a true Zac Brown fan and came so close to
getting to hang with him at The Sanctuary. I don't think Tiff could have cared less.

I can't feel bad for someone who won a million on the show and can
probably afford to fly herself to wherever Zac Brown is performing.
BTW, when Zac Brown came out, it was clear to me I had never seen him
before and have no familiarity with his music at all.

We got a Liz mention and clip. We also got my favorite Gabby scene.

Liz is another player I can't stand and was glad she was not invited
back. But I agree about Gabby.

Charlie seems to have an unhealthy obsession on wanting to punish Rizo
for not voting for his number one in S49. It really makes a lot of sense
now why he and Maria were so tight in S46. Thank God Liz saved us from
    one of them winning.

Given what we recently learned about Ozzie, I wonder if any part of
Charlie's diatribe about Riz was influenced by his own desire to create
    a TV moment?

I wish Billie Eilish had come up with an idol that stays with the
finder. Gen's found two of them but they are useless to her until Ozzy and/or Rizo get booted.

It's not just that they get booted. They have to be booted with the
idol in their pocket. Given how Rizo likes to fake play his idols or
threaten to use them but not do it, she might have a chance with him. I
think Ozzie is probably much more likely to use an idol when he doesn't
    need to.

Ozzy's tribe's performance in the IC was brutal. Not having big strong
guys in that challenge was a guaranteed loss.

That was a long Zac Brown segment. He would have been a lot more

I had no interest in seeing Zac perform so I spaced through that entire segment with him. I will do the same if Billie indeed performs on the
    live finale.

I had to laugh when Christian said that Ozzy's angling for a White Lotus cameo. I'm surprised they included that even though it is true. I can
see Ozzy and Emily getting invites.

I too was amazed they left that line in, since there has been so much
talk about players angling to go on White Lotus. Not sure Emily will
get that shot now given her role in voting out White.

Speaking of White Lotus, when, if ever, has a non-CBS show received so
    much free publicity on Survivor?

Once again only one player was booted. Five gone after nine days ups the odds for late season fuckery.

    Next Episode

Ozzy's pissed and both losing tribes have to go to TC.

Maybe both losing tribes going to TC will be the start of a trend that
will last until Merge and maybe an episode or two afterward.

of the mess she put herself in.

I felt the same way about Zac Brown. I know the name and that he and his

We got a Liz mention and clip. We also got my favorite Gabby scene.

I wish Billie Eilish had come up with an idol that stays with the

    need to.

True about them needing to be booted with the idol in their pocket which
makes it even worse. Based on Rizo's comments when he read the idol
note, we're in for more theater from him.

Ozzy's tribe's performance in the IC was brutal. Not having big strong
guys in that challenge was a guaranteed loss.

That was a long Zac Brown segment. He would have been a lot more

I watched live so I couldn't skip Zac's performance. Billie Eilish is
very good. I would definitely watch her performance.

Next episode is Day 10 and we're still at 19 players. A challenge every
single day is going to kill these guys. I'm surprised it took until Day
9 for the first food reward. And when is the merge going to happen and
how big is the jury going to be?

I'm looking forward to seeing the reaction of the other two tribes when
they find out Mike White was voted out. I wonder how many of them will
think Steph, Ozzy, and Emily teamed up to take out a S37 player and
succeeded when Steph successfully played her SITD.

Her "mess" is mainly with Christian who, to be honest, is also engaging
in his own little TV moments with all the faces he makes about her.
Emily is honestly becoming a handful with Christian, due to her loose
lips, but I think he puts up with her because she is genuinely smart and
he can strategize with her. She's probably the only remaining player on
his tribe who is on his level.

I felt bad for Dee. She's a true Zac Brown fan and came so close to

Valid point about $600K in Miami. And I guess I can easily imagine Dee spending through her winnings and living the good life.

Liz is another player I can't stand and was glad she was not invited

They're saving Liz for a New Era returning players season.

Not sure about that. They already brought back the supposedly best new
era players, so it will take a while to build the pool back up. Also,
for some reason I don't think they were totally thrilled with Liz and
her story. Something about the way she was edited and referenced makes
me think she wouldn't be at the top of a returning player season.

Charlie seems to have an unhealthy obsession on wanting to punish

Yeah, but Charlie is so over-the-top about this, it just seems out of character for someone as supposedly smart as he is. Telling the camera
"I'm sure as hell gonna get Rizo before he gets me" in the preview for
next episode and then "this is Operation Bad Blood" just sounds like a
    TV moment to me.

Christian's way over doing it with the faces. Given their occupations, I
can definitely see them being on the same page when it comes to
strategizing and respecting each other's knowledge. You also have to
factor in the pregaming they did. What I find puzzling is that Emily
seems to have forgotten the lessons she learned in S45 about keeping her
    mouth shut.

I felt bad for Dee. She's a true Zac Brown fan and came so close to

The Liz having a meltdown scene is iconic.

They brought back some good New Era players but they are not the best as
a whole. Joe, for example, was a fan favorite but hardly one of the best players. Same goes for Tiff. Her inclusion still puzzles me.

Charlie seems to have an unhealthy obsession on wanting to punish
Rizo for not voting for his number one in S49. It really makes a lot

Yeah, but Charlie is so over-the-top about this, it just seems out of character for someone as supposedly smart as he is.-a Telling the camera "I'm sure as hell gonna get Rizo before he gets me" in the preview for
next episode and then "this is Operation Bad Blood" just sounds like a
    TV moment to me.

That was a TV moment and a ripoff of Andy's "Operation Italy." He's
still obsessed with how Rizo voted in S49 and he hasn't even seen the
season. I wonder if he watched S49 when he got home and then apologized
    for his behavior?

I wish Billie Eilish had come up with an idol that stays with the
finder. Gen's found two of them but they are useless to her until
    Ozzy and/or Rizo get booted.

It's not just that they get booted.-a They have to be booted with the
idol in their pocket.-a Given how Rizo likes to fake play his idols or
threaten to use them but not do it, she might have a chance with him.
I think Ozzie is probably much more likely to use an idol when he
    doesn't need to.

True about them needing to be booted with the idol in their pocket
which makes it even worse. Based on Rizo's comments when he read the
idol note, we're in for more theater from him.

Ozzy's tribe's performance in the IC was brutal. Not having big
strong guys in that challenge was a guaranteed loss.

I had no interest in seeing Zac perform so I spaced through that
entire segment with him.-a I will do the same if Billie indeed
    performs on the live finale.

I watched live so I couldn't skip Zac's performance. Billie Eilish is
very good. I would definitely watch her performance.

I had to laugh when Christian said that Ozzy's angling for a White
Lotus cameo. I'm surprised they included that even though it is
true. I can see Ozzy and Emily getting invites.

I too was amazed they left that line in, since there has been so much
talk about players angling to go on White Lotus.-a Not sure Emily will
get that shot now given her role in voting out White.

    Hopefully Mike White isn't petty.

Speaking of White Lotus, when, if ever, has a non-CBS show received
so much free publicity on Survivor?

It's going to be happening a lot more in the future.

Once again only one player was booted. Five gone after nine days ups
the odds for late season fuckery.

    Next Episode

Ozzy's pissed and both losing tribes have to go to TC.

Maybe both losing tribes going to TC will be the start of a trend
that will last until Merge and maybe an episode or two afterward.

Next episode is Day 10 and we're still at 19 players. A challenge
every single day is going to kill these guys. I'm surprised it took
until Day 9 for the first food reward. And when is the merge going to
happen and how big is the jury going to be?

I'm looking forward to seeing the reaction of the other two tribes
when they find out Mike White was voted out. I wonder how many of them
will think Steph, Ozzy, and Emily teamed up to take out a S37 player
and succeeded when Steph successfully played her SITD.

Or...that Steph had an idol no one knew about or Ozzie played an idol on her, etc.-a Never fear, though, blabber mouth Emily will tell everyone
    what really happened

Dalton tweeted a clip of his exit interview with Mike White today where
he asked him if he's spoken to Christian since the blindside. They have
not and neither one has reached out to he other. I wonder if Emily has anything to do with that or was Christian carrying baggage still from
S37? His White Lotus confessional comment has me thinking that Christian
did not want Mike White on this season. I still think Christian screwed
up big time. Angelina and Mike White were solid with him. Taking out
Steph would have made the most sense.

FYI, according to Rob's Fact Checker, Zac Brown had four confessionals
last night which ties him with Tiff and Dee. It's crazy that they wasted
1/3 of the episode with 20 players left. The reaction to the Zac Brown
segment has been overwhelmingly negative. Even Dalton took a shot at it.
Is MrBeast going to get an entire episode to eliminate half the
    remaining cast?

The last third or so of the episode that focused just on Emily's

This was one of the most satisfying results for me of any Survivor
episode ever.-a I really can't stand Mike White and all the fawning
done over him, I don't believe he should have been brought back, and
I was excited beyond belief when he left on a 3-2-1 vote exactly as
    Christian planned.

It feels like it's been ages since we had a vote split like that
based solely on strategy. I hope they explain next episode how Emily
got out of the mess she put herself in.

Her "mess" is mainly with Christian who, to be honest, is also
engaging in his own little TV moments with all the faces he makes
about her. Emily is honestly becoming a handful with Christian, due to
her loose lips, but I think he puts up with her because she is
genuinely smart and he can strategize with her.-a She's probably the
only remaining player on his tribe who is on his level.

Christian's way over doing it with the faces. Given their occupations, I
can definitely see them being on the same page when it comes to
strategizing and respecting each other's knowledge. You also have to
factor in the pregaming they did. What I find puzzling is that Emily
seems to have forgotten the lessons she learned in S45 about keeping her mouth shut.

Yes, but remember that blurting something out was how she was first
introduced on Survivor, when she made those initial remarks about Bruce returning in the first scene of S45. I think that's just the way she
is, and given all the deprivation you go through on the show, she
probably just couldn't help it. It has become her brand, in a sense

I felt bad for Dee. She's a true Zac Brown fan and came so close to >>>>> getting to hang with him at The Sanctuary. I don't think Tiff could >>>>> have cared less.

I can't feel bad for someone who won a million on the show and can
probably afford to fly herself to wherever Zac Brown is performing.
BTW, when Zac Brown came out, it was clear to me I had never seen
him before and have no familiarity with his music at all.

I felt the same way about Zac Brown. I know the name and that he and
his band have been around for ages. As for Dee, ~$600K doesn't go
    very far, especially in Miami.

Valid point about $600K in Miami.-a And I guess I can easily imagine
Dee spending through her winnings and living the good life.

I'm pretty sure she invested the money and helped her family pay off
    some debts.

We got a Liz mention and clip. We also got my favorite Gabby scene.

Liz is another player I can't stand and was glad she was not invited
back.-a But I agree about Gabby.

They're saving Liz for a New Era returning players season.

Not sure about that.-a They already brought back the supposedly best
new era players, so it will take a while to build the pool back up.
Also, for some reason I don't think they were totally thrilled with
Liz and her story.-a Something about the way she was edited and
referenced makes me think she wouldn't be at the top of a returning
    player season.

The Liz having a meltdown scene is iconic.

Iconic, maybe, but almost certainly performative. I think Liz has
pretty much admitted that much of what she said and did during the
season was exaggerated for the cameras.

They brought back some good New Era players but they are not the best as
a whole. Joe, for example, was a fan favorite but hardly one of the best players. Same goes for Tiff. Her inclusion still puzzles me.

My initial thought was that Tiff was sort of an EEO choice - that is,
they only had two other blacks in the cast who weren't Asian or Hispanic
or from the Caribbean (Q and Cirie) and they were meeting some sort of internal informal quota. Remember, Jesse Tannenbaum said that even
though formal DEI requirements were dropped by the network, he still
felt diversity was important and it was implied the show still had its
own informal quotas to meet. Having only two American blacks in the
cast might have seemed too low a number.

But then I remembered what Jeff said about the season. He wanted
players who showed a genuine love and enthusiasm for the game, and he specifically wanted to exclude players who came across as manipulative,
fake or mean-spirited. That's likely why players like Abi Maria,
Carolyn Wiger, Jerri Manthey and, frankly, Liz were excluded. I agree
there was nothing really outstanding about Tiff, but she seemed to have
decent enthusiasm for the game, she was very adept socially and
certainly never came across as overly manipulative or mean. I can see
why she might have fit Jeff's criteria as someone who really loves the game.

By the way, the thought occurred to me that this whole "In the hands of
the fans" stuff had one major flaw. The fans had absolutely no input in
the casting or player selection. Now I can see why they didn't want to
repeat having the fans choose all the participants, since that was how
they did Second Chances. But it might have been interesting to leave
one slot open in both old and new eras to allow the fans to choose two
players for the season. I wonder if the fans could have voted for one
new era and one old era players, who would they have selected?
Obviously, the vote would be limited to players who had expressed a willingness to come back (so, for example, any votes for Boston Rob or
Amanda would be excluded because both reportedly declined a chance to
return), but I wonder who they would have chosen. Remember - this
wouldn't just be a vote of hard-core fans, but it would be open to the millions of "casuals" who actually watch each week. I have no clue as
to who they would have chosen.

Charlie seems to have an unhealthy obsession on wanting to punish
Rizo for not voting for his number one in S49. It really makes a
lot of sense now why he and Maria were so tight in S46. Thank God
Liz saved us from one of them winning.

Given what we recently learned about Ozzie, I wonder if any part of
Charlie's diatribe about Riz was influenced by his own desire to
    create a TV moment?

IIRC, the preview for next episode shows Charlie still talking about
taking out Rizo. There's been too much of it to be a TV moment.

    for his behavior?

That's possible, though I doubt it. I still think this is being hyped
as a made-for TV moment, and I suspect they probably reconciled while off-camera on the island or at Ponderosa (assuming neither makes it all
    the way to the finale).

I wish Billie Eilish had come up with an idol that stays with the

I've heard chatter about this today, and a lot of people agree with you
on this. But I don't. I think taking out Mike was the right move.
It's true he could have diverted the vote to Steph, but I think it was
clear Mike wanted Emily out because he could see how strong she was strategically. But that was a big part of why Christian wanted to keep
Emily in the game. Aside from Mike himself, I think Christian felt
Emily was the only person really on his level who he could talk to strategically about the game.

Regarding Mike, I think Christian could tell by the way Mike was trying
to convince Christian to vote out Emily just hos persuasive Mike could
be. I think when he said Mike was the most dangerous player on the
island, he really meant it. Listening to Mike trying to work his magic
on him, I think Christian realized in that moment that Mike would beat
him and probably anyone else he went up against in the finale. Not only
does Mike have great communication and persuasion skills, not only can
he make the case that this would be redemption for him coming so close
in his first season, but the running joke of the season that players
would kowtow to Mike to try to get themselves cast in White Lotus would
almost certainly come into play in a final jury vote. I think Christian realized all that and saw that this might be his only real chance to
    take him out.

FYI, according to Rob's Fact Checker, Zac Brown had four confessionals

I was surprised to hear Rob C. admit in his podcast this week that, like
me, he also had never heard of Zac Brown and was unfamiliar with his
music. I wonder what percentage of Survivor viewers had this same reaction?

preview for next episode and then "this is Operation Bad Blood" just
sounds like a TV moment to me.

That was a TV moment and a ripoff of Andy's "Operation Italy." He's
still obsessed with how Rizo voted in S49 and he hasn't even seen the
season. I wonder if he watched S49 when he got home and then
    apologized for his behavior?

That's possible, though I doubt it.-a I still think this is being hyped
as a made-for TV moment, and I suspect they probably reconciled while off-camera on the island or at Ponderosa (assuming neither makes it all
    the way to the finale).

We'll find out in a few months. Charlie's not getting a F3 edit as far
as I'm concerned. Rizo's getting a similar edit to S49. I could see him
making it to the end but I could also see him going soon. With 19 people
left, how many more random tribe shuffles are we going to see before
    they finally merge?

I wish Billie Eilish had come up with an idol that stays with the >>>>>> finder. Gen's found two of them but they are useless to her until >>>>>> Ozzy and/or Rizo get booted.

It's not just that they get booted.-a They have to be booted with
the idol in their pocket.-a Given how Rizo likes to fake play his
idols or threaten to use them but not do it, she might have a
chance with him. I think Ozzie is probably much more likely to use
an idol when he doesn't need to.

That was a long Zac Brown segment. He would have been a lot more
impressive if he had used a spear that the players use when
fishing. Ozzy would have caught 80 fish if he had the spear gun
Zac used. One thing about a live reunion for S50 is that Billie
Eilish has time to write a Survivor song (Boomerang?) and perform >>>>>> it live.

I had no interest in seeing Zac perform so I spaced through that
entire segment with him.-a I will do the same if Billie indeed
    performs on the live finale.

I watched live so I couldn't skip Zac's performance. Billie Eilish
is very good. I would definitely watch her performance.

I guess I'll give her a shot if she actually sings at the reunion.-a Have they ever really done that before?

I don't recall there ever being a live performance at a reunion. If
there's going to be a first time this will be the season.

I had to laugh when Christian said that Ozzy's angling for a White >>>>>> Lotus cameo. I'm surprised they included that even though it is
true. I can see Ozzy and Emily getting invites.

I too was amazed they left that line in, since there has been so
much talk about players angling to go on White Lotus.-a Not sure
Emily will get that shot now given her role in voting out White.

    Hopefully Mike White isn't petty.

Speaking of White Lotus, when, if ever, has a non-CBS show received >>>>> so much free publicity on Survivor?

It's going to be happening a lot more in the future.

Once again only one player was booted. Five gone after nine days
ups the odds for late season fuckery.

And when is the merge going
to happen and how big is the jury going to be?

I'm looking forward to seeing the reaction of the other two tribes
when they find out Mike White was voted out. I wonder how many of
them will think Steph, Ozzy, and Emily teamed up to take out a S37
player and succeeded when Steph successfully played her SITD.

Or...that Steph had an idol no one knew about or Ozzie played an idol
on her, etc.-a Never fear, though, blabber mouth Emily will tell
    everyone what really happened

Dalton tweeted a clip of his exit interview with Mike White today
where he asked him if he's spoken to Christian since the blindside.
They have not and neither one has reached out to he other. I wonder if
Emily has anything to do with that or was Christian carrying baggage
still from S37? His White Lotus confessional comment has me thinking
that Christian did not want Mike White on this season. I still think
Christian screwed up big time. Angelina and Mike White were solid with
him. Taking out Steph would have made the most sense.

I've heard chatter about this today, and a lot of people agree with you
on this.-a But I don't.-a I think taking out Mike was the right move. It's true he could have diverted the vote to Steph, but I think it was clear
Mike wanted Emily out because he could see how strong she was strategically.-a But that was a big part of why Christian wanted to keep Emily in the game.-a Aside from Mike himself, I think Christian felt
Emily was the only person really on his level who he could talk to strategically about the game.

Regarding Mike, I think Christian could tell by the way Mike was trying
to convince Christian to vote out Emily just hos persuasive Mike could
be.-a I think when he said Mike was the most dangerous player on the
island, he really meant it.-a Listening to Mike trying to work his magic
on him, I think Christian realized in that moment that Mike would beat
him and probably anyone else he went up against in the finale.-a Not only does Mike have great communication and persuasion skills, not only can
he make the case that this would be redemption for him coming so close
in his first season, but the running joke of the season that players
would kowtow to Mike to try to get themselves cast in White Lotus would almost certainly come into play in a final jury vote.-a I think Christian realized all that and saw that this might be his only real chance to
    take him out.

I'm sensing that the White Lotus was a major factor. Mike White said he
wrote Season 4 for the show right after he was booted. Did S50 influence
his scripts? Christian might have been right not to trust Mike White. Angelina's now basically saying the only reason she EVER trusted
Christian is because Mike White told her to. I think we might be in for
a heated exchange between Angelina and Christian at the start of Ep 05.
Ozzy will probably tear into Christian as well. The live reunion now has
    some potential!

FYI, according to Rob's Fact Checker, Zac Brown had four confessionals
last night which ties him with Tiff and Dee. It's crazy that they
wasted 1/3 of the episode with 20 players left. The reaction to the
Zac Brown segment has been overwhelmingly negative. Even Dalton took a
shot at it. Is MrBeast going to get an entire episode to eliminate
    half the remaining cast?

I was surprised to hear Rob C. admit in his podcast this week that, like
me, he also had never heard of Zac Brown and was unfamiliar with his music.-a I wonder what percentage of Survivor viewers had this same reaction?

From what I've seen online, I would say the majority are not familiar
with him. Even fans of Zac Brown seem to be questioning what value the
segment of him spearfishing added to the show.

We should be thankful that they didn't include all of the Zac Brown
footage in the episode. There's a 4+ minute long bonus clip of him
talking to the players on the reward. He claims he can hold his breath
under water for 4.5 minutes. Gen asks him if he's familiar with "Last
Gasp" and tells him he would win that challenge. She then gets tips from
    him.

This was one of the most satisfying results for me of any Survivor >>>>>> episode ever.-a I really can't stand Mike White and all the fawning >>>>>> done over him, I don't believe he should have been brought back,
and I was excited beyond belief when he left on a 3-2-1 vote
    exactly as Christian planned.

It feels like it's been ages since we had a vote split like that
based solely on strategy. I hope they explain next episode how
Emily got out of the mess she put herself in.

Her "mess" is mainly with Christian who, to be honest, is also
engaging in his own little TV moments with all the faces he makes
about her. Emily is honestly becoming a handful with Christian, due
to her loose lips, but I think he puts up with her because she is
genuinely smart and he can strategize with her.-a She's probably the
only remaining player on his tribe who is on his level.

Christian's way over doing it with the faces. Given their
occupations, I can definitely see them being on the same page when it
comes to strategizing and respecting each other's knowledge. You also
have to factor in the pregaming they did. What I find puzzling is
that Emily seems to have forgotten the lessons she learned in S45
    about keeping her mouth shut.

Yes, but remember that blurting something out was how she was first
introduced on Survivor, when she made those initial remarks about
Bruce returning in the first scene of S45.-a I think that's just the
way she is, and given all the deprivation you go through on the show,
she probably just couldn't help it.-a It has become her brand, in a sense

Deprivation couldn't have been an issue at the start of S45. I do agree that's probably the way she is and that she doesn't do it maliciously.

I felt bad for Dee. She's a true Zac Brown fan and came so close >>>>>>> to getting to hang with him at The Sanctuary. I don't think Tiff >>>>>>> could have cared less.

I can't feel bad for someone who won a million on the show and can >>>>>> probably afford to fly herself to wherever Zac Brown is
performing. BTW, when Zac Brown came out, it was clear to me I had >>>>>> never seen him before and have no familiarity with his music at all. >>>>>
I felt the same way about Zac Brown. I know the name and that he
and his band have been around for ages. As for Dee, ~$600K doesn't
go very far, especially in Miami.

Valid point about $600K in Miami.-a And I guess I can easily imagine
Dee spending through her winnings and living the good life.

I'm pretty sure she invested the money and helped her family pay off
    some debts.

We got a Liz mention and clip. We also got my favorite Gabby scene. >>>>>>>

Liz is another player I can't stand and was glad she was not
invited back.-a But I agree about Gabby.

Iconic, maybe, but almost certainly performative.-a I think Liz has
pretty much admitted that much of what she said and did during the
season was exaggerated for the cameras.

They brought back some good New Era players but they are not the best
as a whole. Joe, for example, was a fan favorite but hardly one of
the best players. Same goes for Tiff. Her inclusion still puzzles me.

My initial thought was that Tiff was sort of an EEO choice - that is,
they only had two other blacks in the cast who weren't Asian or
Hispanic or from the Caribbean (Q and Cirie) and they were meeting
some sort of internal informal quota.-a Remember, Jesse Tannenbaum said
that even though formal DEI requirements were dropped by the network,
he still felt diversity was important and it was implied the show
still had its own informal quotas to meet.-a Having only two American
blacks in the cast might have seemed too low a number.

But then I remembered what Jeff said about the season.-a He wanted
players who showed a genuine love and enthusiasm for the game, and he
specifically wanted to exclude players who came across as
manipulative, fake or mean-spirited.-a That's likely why players like
Abi Maria, Carolyn Wiger, Jerri Manthey and, frankly, Liz were
excluded. I agree there was nothing really outstanding about Tiff, but
she seemed to have decent enthusiasm for the game, she was very adept
socially and certainly never came across as overly manipulative or
mean.-a I can see why she might have fit Jeff's criteria as someone who
    really loves the game.

By the way, the thought occurred to me that this whole "In the hands
of the fans" stuff had one major flaw.-a The fans had absolutely no
input in the casting or player selection.-a Now I can see why they
didn't want to repeat having the fans choose all the participants,
since that was how they did Second Chances.-a But it might have been
interesting to leave one slot open in both old and new eras to allow
the fans to choose two players for the season.-a I wonder if the fans
could have voted for one new era and one old era players, who would
they have selected? Obviously, the vote would be limited to players
who had expressed a willingness to come back (so, for example, any
votes for Boston Rob or Amanda would be excluded because both
reportedly declined a chance to return), but I wonder who they would
    have chosen.-a Remember - this wouldn't just be a vote of hard-core
fans, but it would be open to the millions of "casuals" who actually
watch each week.-a I have no clue as to who they would have chosen.

For Second Chances, the fans got to choose from a pool of players that
the show had hand selected. Jeff was basically going to get who he
wanted regardless of how the fans voted. Letting fans choose out of a potential pool of 700+ players would be a disaster. It would be all multi-time players and recency bias. And probably no Savannah. Also,
with the show doing unofficial DEI there's no way in hell they would let fans have total control over the cast.

I wasn't suggesting they fill the entire cast based on fans vote. As I
said, they basically already did that with Second Chances. I just
thought it might have been interesting if they had left two slots open -
one new era and old era - to be filled based on fan vote alone. I
wonder who would have finished first in both old era and new era groups
and if it would correspond to someone already chosen by producers.
Again, I would exclude from the vote any players like Boston Rob, Amber
and Chochran who had explicity said they weren't available for the season.

Charlie seems to have an unhealthy obsession on wanting to punish >>>>>>> Rizo for not voting for his number one in S49. It really makes a >>>>>>> lot of sense now why he and Maria were so tight in S46. Thank God >>>>>>> Liz saved us from one of them winning.

Given what we recently learned about Ozzie, I wonder if any part
of Charlie's diatribe about Riz was influenced by his own desire
    to create a TV moment?

IIRC, the preview for next episode shows Charlie still talking
about taking out Rizo. There's been too much of it to be a TV moment. >>>>>

Yeah, but Charlie is so over-the-top about this, it just seems out
of character for someone as supposedly smart as he is.-a Telling the
camera "I'm sure as hell gonna get Rizo before he gets me" in the

Yes, Mike told Rob C. that the one advantage of being booted early is
that he had two weeks of unplanned down time at Ponderosa, so he used
that time to come up with the complete detailed plan for season 4 of
