• Sage: "Last Thoughts" (video) *She names names*

Sage posted a video on YouTube. Best to watch sooner than later based on
    her video description.

This was originally 90 minutes long, so be grateful for the condensed 47 minutes version! The same people who will scold me for it being long are
the same people who would bombard me with the FAQs I address in here.
Anyway, enjoy this while it stays up, bye.

Thanks for the heads-up.-a I just downloaded it and will listen to it tomorrow, probably.

I'll give you another heads-up. She rambles a lot in this video and
seems apprehensive to name names. The video is literally half over
before she releases a name. She does say some interesting things in the
the first half of the video so don't skip anything. When she finally
does name names the video gets really good. The stories about "tent
city" were pretty interesting. If what Sage said is true, production
needs to rethink things concerning pregame if they don't want people
talking to each other. The honor system obviously doesn't always work.

She only names two names. She decided not to name the other two because
she does not have enough first-hand info. She said it would be unethical
to release their names. However, she said others have proof that they
    cheated.

It'll be interesting to see if the two people she did name respond. I
won't say anymore so you don't go into the video biased by my views.

I listened to her video, and my first reaction is that's 47 minutes of
my life I won't get back. She spends fully the first half just whining
and doing her entitled Millennial thing where she complains about the
cheating and how unfair it was and a lot of other neurotic venting, and
then finally reveals the names of Jake and Blue Soph around 24 minutes
in. Honestly, the substantive information in the video about the
pre-gaming could have been covered in a 5-minute video. The rest is
    just woo woo.

She makes a valid point that there was pre-game talking between at least
Jake and Soph, but her obvious remedy was (and is) to complain to the
show and to CBS. If she feels the pre-gaming adversely affected her
game and her chances to win, file a formal complaint with the show and
the network. If she feels that strongly about it, take the show to
court the way Stacey Stillman did and the way Sue Hawk probably
threatened to do before the show settled with her. There is no evidence
or indication she has done any of that - and indeed, if she had filed a
formal complaint, we would no doubt be hearing about that instead of the self-absorbed whining we've been getting.

I think the show is fully aware that players talk before every season,
and they do their best to police it. In this case, they did take steps
to cut the two players who kept doing it after being warned. Sage makes
a big deal about how there was no pre-gaming in S47, but she doesn't
really know that - she only knows she didn't see any of it. I honestly
think this goes on to some extent every season.

I also think a big part of this is just sour grapes that she lost to
Sophi and that Sophi took votes from her that might have helped her win
if, say, Rizo had made it to the finals with Sage and Savannah instead
of Soph. The bottom line here is that whatever pre-gaming went on that
she was not a part of, it didn't affect her ability to make it to the
finale of the show and earn $85K or whatever third place pays nowadays.
I agree with those who say at this point she should just stop talking
about this and get on with her life.

I listened to her video, and my first reaction is that's 47 minutes
of my life I won't get back.-a She spends fully the first half just
whining and doing her entitled Millennial thing where she complains
about the cheating and how unfair it was and a lot of other neurotic
venting, and then finally reveals the names of Jake and Blue Soph
around 24 minutes in.-a-a Honestly, the substantive information in the >>>> video about the pre- gaming could have been covered in a 5-minute
video.-a The rest is just woo woo.

She makes a valid point that there was pre-game talking between at
least Jake and Soph, but her obvious remedy was (and is) to complain
to the show and to CBS.-a If she feels the pre-gaming adversely
affected her game and her chances to win, file a formal complaint
with the show and the network.-a If she feels that strongly about it, >>>> take the show to court the way Stacey Stillman did and the way Sue
Hawk probably threatened to do before the show settled with her.
There is no evidence or indication she has done any of that - and
indeed, if she had filed a formal complaint, we would no doubt be
hearing about that instead of the self-absorbed whining we've been
    getting.

I think the show is fully aware that players talk before every
season, and they do their best to police it.-a In this case, they did >>>> take steps to cut the two players who kept doing it after being
warned. Sage makes a big deal about how there was no pre-gaming in
S47, but she doesn't really know that - she only knows she didn't
see any of it.-a I honestly think this goes on to some extent every
    season.

I also think a big part of this is just sour grapes that she lost to
Sophi and that Sophi took votes from her that might have helped her
win if, say, Rizo had made it to the finals with Sage and Savannah
instead of Soph.-a The bottom line here is that whatever pre-gaming
went on that she was not a part of, it didn't affect her ability to
make it to the finale of the show and earn $85K or whatever third
place pays nowadays. I agree with those who say at this point she
should just stop talking about this and get on with her life.

    Sophi's response.

will get around to listening to it, but here it is:

    https://robhasawebsite.com/survivor-new-era-winner-rankings/

Two hours for nine winners?! I'll predict Erika was ranked last. It'll

    https://www.instagram.com/p/DTL2pfBEpJ6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I watched the beginning of the discussion and they all agree that the
lowest ranked winner of the New Era was....Gabler! They then disagreed
on who comes next. Rob and Shannon thought Erika was next but Mike
Bloom apparently ranked her higher. I didn't watch any more after that.

For the record, I agree with you that Erika should be ranked last.

Here's a reaction/summary of Sages's video from Survivor reviewer "Once
Upon an Island". I don't think there's really anything new here, but it
does pull and summarize the key points from Sage's video. Also, unlike
Sage's video, this person allows comments, so it's interesting to read
what people think of all this. Surprisingly, multiple people seem to
think Jake's removal from the game was more for the cheating than the
snake bite and some think the whole snake bite thing was faked. And at
least one poster seems to think the second of the two unnamed cheaters
(the one Sage said had met with Soph but whom she wasn't going to name
because she said the person had demonstrated "growth and willingness to learn") was actually Savannah.

They basically just said that compared to the other winners, he had less
of an impact on that season. The general feeling was that he pretty
much just got by under the radar for most of the season and his major accomplishments were getting Jessie out in fire and then a decent jury
speech. They feel he basically won because the jury liked him
personally better than the other finalists, rather than because he
    played a great game.

BTW, the final consensus of the new era winner rankings (which took into account a listener vote as well) was this, ranked best to worst:

    1-Dee
    2-Rachel
    3-Savannah
    4-Kyle
    5-Yam Yam
    6-Maryanne
    7-Kenzie
    8-Erica
    9-Gabler

I can nitpick a couple of placements (I would have switched Erica and
Gabler, for example) but for the most part I think this is a pretty
    decent ranking.

CanrCOt wait to see you tonight!!!! Wanna come over and pre game? EfNe >>>>>>

    That's really pretty funny!

We know from the spoilers that Dee and Savannah are on different
teams to start S50.-a I wonder how long each survives and if they
    became allies during the game?

Btw, Rob C, Mike Bloom and Shannon Guss have released a more than
two- hour podcast where they rank the new era winners.-a I'm not
sure when I will get around to listening to it, but here it is:

    https://robhasawebsite.com/survivor-new-era-winner-rankings/

Two hours for nine winners?! I'll predict Erika was ranked last.
It'll be interesting to see where they rank Gabler.

    they're expecting a baby.

I watched the beginning of the discussion and they all agree that the
lowest ranked winner of the New Era was....Gabler!-a They then
disagreed on who comes next.-a Rob and Shannon thought Erika was next
but Mike Bloom apparently ranked her higher.-a I didn't watch any more
    after that.

For the record, I agree with you that Erika should be ranked last.

Did they state why they ranked Gabler last? I don't recall him
benefiting from a twist that literally erased what had happened
    previously in the game.

They basically just said that compared to the other winners, he had less
of an impact on that season.-a The general feeling was that he pretty
much just got by under the radar for most of the season and his major accomplishments were getting Jessie out in fire and then a decent jury speech.-a They feel he basically won because the jury liked him
personally better than the other finalists, rather than because he
    played a great game.

Interesting. I thought postseason it came out that Gabler's social game
was way better than the edit indicated? The social aspect of the game is something the show still hasn't figured out how to convey to viewers as
far as I'm concerned. Or is it more a case of them not wanting to focus
    on social games?

BTW, the final consensus of the new era winner rankings (which took into account a listener vote as well) was this, ranked best to worst:

    1-Dee
    2-Rachel
    3-Savannah
    4-Kyle
    5-Yam Yam
    6-Maryanne
    7-Kenzie
    8-Erica
    9-Gabler

I can nitpick a couple of placements (I would have switched Erica and Gabler, for example) but for the most part I think this is a pretty
    decent ranking.

Kenz is a perfect example of social game being downplayed in the edit.
It also didn't help that her win was tainted for some viewers by Liz
helping her in the F5 IC. I would rank her ahead of Maryanne, however.

Despite Rachel being my favorite New Era winner, I would put her #3 and Savannah #2. I thought Savannah was pretty well-aware of what was going
on the entire time whereas Rachel was clearly out of the loop a number
of times. Dee being ranked #1 is hard to argue. She played a great game
and was in control most of the time.

Thanks for the heads-up.-a I just downloaded it and will listen to
    it tomorrow, probably.

I'll give you another heads-up. She rambles a lot in this video and
seems apprehensive to name names. The video is literally half over
before she releases a name. She does say some interesting things in
the the first half of the video so don't skip anything. When she
finally does name names the video gets really good. The stories
about "tent city" were pretty interesting. If what Sage said is
true, production needs to rethink things concerning pregame if they
don't want people talking to each other. The honor system obviously
    doesn't always work.

She only names two names. She decided not to name the other two
because she does not have enough first-hand info. She said it would
be unethical to release their names. However, she said others have
    proof that they cheated.

It'll be interesting to see if the two people she did name respond.
I won't say anymore so you don't go into the video biased by my views. >>>>

I listened to her video, and my first reaction is that's 47 minutes
of my life I won't get back.-a She spends fully the first half just
whining and doing her entitled Millennial thing where she complains
about the cheating and how unfair it was and a lot of other neurotic
venting, and then finally reveals the names of Jake and Blue Soph
around 24 minutes in.-a-a Honestly, the substantive information in the
video about the pre- gaming could have been covered in a 5-minute
video.-a The rest is just woo woo.

She makes a valid point that there was pre-game talking between at
least Jake and Soph, but her obvious remedy was (and is) to complain
to the show and to CBS.-a If she feels the pre-gaming adversely
affected her game and her chances to win, file a formal complaint
with the show and the network.-a If she feels that strongly about it,
take the show to court the way Stacey Stillman did and the way Sue
Hawk probably threatened to do before the show settled with her.
There is no evidence or indication she has done any of that - and
indeed, if she had filed a formal complaint, we would no doubt be
hearing about that instead of the self-absorbed whining we've been
    getting.

I think the show is fully aware that players talk before every
season, and they do their best to police it.-a In this case, they did
take steps to cut the two players who kept doing it after being
warned. Sage makes a big deal about how there was no pre-gaming in
S47, but she doesn't really know that - she only knows she didn't see
any of it.-a I honestly think this goes on to some extent every season.

Yeah, I considered both of those switches. Ultimately, I think I give
Rachel a very slight edge because I think she had to fight harder and
overcome more than Savannah, who did get lucky with her alliance with
Rizo. Rachel did what she did pretty much on her own. But they are very close. Ironically, Savannah is MY favorite New Era winner.

Regarding Kenzie and Maryanne, I thought Maryanne was more strategic and worked a bit harder than Kenzie, who pretty much relied completely on
her social game and people liking her. And you are right that her win
was tainted a bit by Liz helping her. But again, I could probably go
    either way on that one.

The Savannah cheated "theory" was out there before Sage's video. I'm discounting it because it's coming from the same people who were

I'm pretty sure the snake bite was fake theory is from Reddit. I don't
see the show gambling on hundreds of people keeping quite about such deception. I definitely don't see the doctors risking their careers by
doing something unethical. I think what we saw was accurate. There was a snake that may or maynot have bit Jake. Jake had a major panic attack or whatever that caused his vital signs to go to dangerous levels. The
doctors and Fijian locals were probably 99.9% sure Jake was bitten, but
no one including Jeff and CBS wanted to gamble that they might be wrong.
By filming everything Jeff got to air unique footage for the show which
was probably more important to him than booting Jake for cheating.

There is no doubt in my mind the snake bite was legitimate and the
doctor's reactions were all as shown. The only question might be
whether the show had more discretion about whether to remove Jake from
the cast once it was established the bite was not poisonous. Players
have had panic attacks before and stayed in the game (e.g., Eva).

But that all said, I agree with you that the doctors and show wanted to
err on the side of caution in removing Jake from the game. I don't think
the pre-season stuff had anything to do with it.

    That's really pretty funny!

We know from the spoilers that Dee and Savannah are on different >>>>>>> teams to start S50.-a I wonder how long each survives and if they >>>>>>> became allies during the game?

Btw, Rob C, Mike Bloom and Shannon Guss have released a more than >>>>>>> two- hour podcast where they rank the new era winners.-a I'm not >>>>>>> sure when I will get around to listening to it, but here it is:

    https://robhasawebsite.com/survivor-new-era-winner-rankings/

Two hours for nine winners?! I'll predict Erika was ranked last.
It'll be interesting to see where they rank Gabler.

Speaking of New Era winners, Kyle and his wife announced today
    they're expecting a baby.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/DTL2pfBEpJ6/?
    utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

I watched the beginning of the discussion and they all agree that
the lowest ranked winner of the New Era was....Gabler!-a They then
disagreed on who comes next.-a Rob and Shannon thought Erika was
next but Mike Bloom apparently ranked her higher.-a I didn't watch
    any more after that.

For the record, I agree with you that Erika should be ranked last.

Did they state why they ranked Gabler last? I don't recall him
benefiting from a twist that literally erased what had happened
    previously in the game.

They basically just said that compared to the other winners, he had
less of an impact on that season.-a The general feeling was that he
pretty much just got by under the radar for most of the season and
his major accomplishments were getting Jessie out in fire and then a
decent jury speech.-a They feel he basically won because the jury
liked him personally better than the other finalists, rather than
because he played a great game.

Interesting. I thought postseason it came out that Gabler's social
game was way better than the edit indicated? The social aspect of the
game is something the show still hasn't figured out how to convey to
viewers as far as I'm concerned. Or is it more a case of them not
wanting to focus on social games?

BTW, the final consensus of the new era winner rankings (which took
into account a listener vote as well) was this, ranked best to worst:

    1-Dee
    2-Rachel
    3-Savannah
    4-Kyle
    5-Yam Yam
    6-Maryanne
    7-Kenzie
    8-Erica
    9-Gabler

I can nitpick a couple of placements (I would have switched Erica and
Gabler, for example) but for the most part I think this is a pretty
    decent ranking.

Kenz is a perfect example of social game being downplayed in the edit.
It also didn't help that her win was tainted for some viewers by Liz
helping her in the F5 IC. I would rank her ahead of Maryanne, however.

Despite Rachel being my favorite New Era winner, I would put her #3
and Savannah #2. I thought Savannah was pretty well-aware of what was
going on the entire time whereas Rachel was clearly out of the loop a
number of times. Dee being ranked #1 is hard to argue. She played a
great game and was in control most of the time.

Yeah, I considered both of those switches.-a Ultimately, I think I give Rachel a very slight edge because I think she had to fight harder and overcome more than Savannah, who did get lucky with her alliance with
Rizo. Rachel did what she did pretty much on her own.-a But they are very close.-a Ironically, Savannah is MY favorite New Era winner.

IIRC, it was only during that short weird 4x4x4 tribe spit where Rizo
and Savannah were apart. Savannah also benefited a lot when they adopted
Sophi Balerdi. Rachel's probably a better strategic player than
Savannah, and Savannah's better at challenges. I've liked all the New
    Era winners from Dee on.

Regarding Kenzie and Maryanne, I thought Maryanne was more strategic and worked a bit harder than Kenzie, who pretty much relied completely on
her social game and people liking her.-a And you are right that her win
was tainted a bit by Liz helping her.-a But again, I could probably go either way on that one.

I give Kenz bonus points for having to mother Bhanu the first third or
so of the game and then being there for Ben later on. I would give her
another million just for having to deal with Bhanu.

If you scroll through the comments there's this gem from Dee.

CanrCOt wait to see you tonight!!!! Wanna come over and pre game? EfNe >>>>

    Here's a reaction/summary of Sages's video from Survivor reviewer
"Once Upon an Island".-a I don't think there's really anything new
here, but it does pull and summarize the key points from Sage's
video.-a Also, unlike Sage's video, this person allows comments, so
it's interesting to read what people think of all this.
Surprisingly, multiple people seem to think Jake's removal from the
game was more for the cheating than the snake bite and some think the
whole snake bite thing was faked.-a And at least one poster seems to
think the second of the two unnamed cheaters (the one Sage said had
met with Soph but whom she wasn't going to name because she said the
person had demonstrated "growth and willingness to learn") was
    actually Savannah.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9M01CiAT0Y

The Savannah cheated "theory" was out there before Sage's video. I'm
discounting it because it's coming from the same people who were
convinced Sophie Segreti cheated because of her edit. They claimed she
was given a bad edit as punishment for cheating. Turns out all of that
    was dead wrong.

I'm pretty sure the snake bite was fake theory is from Reddit. I don't
see the show gambling on hundreds of people keeping quite about such
deception. I definitely don't see the doctors risking their careers by
doing something unethical. I think what we saw was accurate. There was
a snake that may or maynot have bit Jake. Jake had a major panic
attack or whatever that caused his vital signs to go to dangerous
levels. The doctors and Fijian locals were probably 99.9% sure Jake
was bitten, but no one including Jeff and CBS wanted to gamble that
they might be wrong. By filming everything Jeff got to air unique
footage for the show which was probably more important to him than
    booting Jake for cheating.

There is no doubt in my mind the snake bite was legitimate and the
doctor's reactions were all as shown.-a The only question might be
whether the show had more discretion about whether to remove Jake from
the cast once it was established the bite was not poisonous.-a Players
have had panic attacks before and stayed in the game (e.g., Eva).

Hasn't Jeff said numerous times that the medical team has final say in
such cases? It would look really suspicious if Jeff overruled a doctor.

Eva didn't have a panic attack. The show knew going in what might happen
and I imagine what she needed to "stabilize."

But that all said, I agree with you that the doctors and show wanted to
err on the side of caution in removing Jake from the game. I don't think
the pre-season stuff had anything to do with it.

Totally agree. If someone died during the game because of a risky
medical call that would be the end of the show and probably Jeff.

    Sophi's response.

If you scroll through the comments there's this gem from Dee. >>>>>>>>>>

    That's really pretty funny!

We know from the spoilers that Dee and Savannah are on
different teams to start S50.-a I wonder how long each survives >>>>>>>>> and if they became allies during the game?

Btw, Rob C, Mike Bloom and Shannon Guss have released a more >>>>>>>>> than two- hour podcast where they rank the new era winners. >>>>>>>>> I'm not sure when I will get around to listening to it, but >>>>>>>>> here it is:

I watched the beginning of the discussion and they all agree that >>>>>>> the lowest ranked winner of the New Era was....Gabler!-a They then >>>>>>> disagreed on who comes next.-a Rob and Shannon thought Erika was >>>>>>> next but Mike Bloom apparently ranked her higher.-a I didn't watch >>>>>>> any more after that.

For the record, I agree with you that Erika should be ranked last. >>>>>>
Did they state why they ranked Gabler last? I don't recall him
benefiting from a twist that literally erased what had happened
    previously in the game.

They basically just said that compared to the other winners, he had >>>>> less of an impact on that season.-a The general feeling was that he >>>>> pretty much just got by under the radar for most of the season and
his major accomplishments were getting Jessie out in fire and then
a decent jury speech.-a They feel he basically won because the jury >>>>> liked him personally better than the other finalists, rather than
because he played a great game.

Interesting. I thought postseason it came out that Gabler's social
game was way better than the edit indicated? The social aspect of
the game is something the show still hasn't figured out how to
convey to viewers as far as I'm concerned. Or is it more a case of
them not wanting to focus on social games?

BTW, the final consensus of the new era winner rankings (which took >>>>> into account a listener vote as well) was this, ranked best to worst: >>>>>
    1-Dee
    2-Rachel
    3-Savannah
    4-Kyle
    5-Yam Yam
    6-Maryanne
    7-Kenzie
    8-Erica
    9-Gabler

I can nitpick a couple of placements (I would have switched Erica
and Gabler, for example) but for the most part I think this is a
    pretty decent ranking.

Kenz is a perfect example of social game being downplayed in the
edit. It also didn't help that her win was tainted for some viewers
by Liz helping her in the F5 IC. I would rank her ahead of Maryanne,
    however.

Despite Rachel being my favorite New Era winner, I would put her #3
and Savannah #2. I thought Savannah was pretty well-aware of what
was going on the entire time whereas Rachel was clearly out of the
loop a number of times. Dee being ranked #1 is hard to argue. She
played a great game and was in control most of the time.

Yeah, I considered both of those switches.-a Ultimately, I think I
give Rachel a very slight edge because I think she had to fight
harder and overcome more than Savannah, who did get lucky with her
alliance with Rizo. Rachel did what she did pretty much on her own.
But they are very close.-a Ironically, Savannah is MY favorite New Era
    winner.

IIRC, it was only during that short weird 4x4x4 tribe spit where Rizo
and Savannah were apart. Savannah also benefited a lot when they
adopted Sophi Balerdi. Rachel's probably a better strategic player
than Savannah, and Savannah's better at challenges. I've liked all the
New Era winners from Dee on.

Regarding Kenzie and Maryanne, I thought Maryanne was more strategic
and worked a bit harder than Kenzie, who pretty much relied
completely on her social game and people liking her.-a And you are
right that her win was tainted a bit by Liz helping her.-a But again,
I could probably go either way on that one.

I give Kenz bonus points for having to mother Bhanu the first third or
so of the game and then being there for Ben later on. I would give her
another million just for having to deal with Bhanu.

I had completely forgotten about Bhanu and the hand-holding Kensie did
with him.-a This is another reminder about why a post-final TC after show
is better than the live reunion where all players show up plus whatever random celebs Jeff chooses to invite.

    Exactly
