He says that he intentionally didn't bother practicing fire as he knew
that option was being vote on by the fans. Since he was always keeping
track of the discussion online he knew the feeling was that fire
making shouldn't decide who gets into the finale so he thought there
was no way the fans would vote to include fire making so why spend
time on that skill.
Turns out the people voting didn't just include those people posting
online and so the vote went for including fire making. :(

I don't feel for him at all. A smart player like Rizo should have never >assumed what the vote would be on this. And even if he had guessed
right, there would still be fire-making if the vote had gone to a 2-2
tie. Multiple times before fire-making became automatic at F4, there
were seasons were a 2-2 tie vote had to be settled by fire, including >Aubry's challenge win at F4 in S32 and including that amazing
fire-challenge at F4 in S13 where neither player could start the fire
and the show literally had to give them matches. (Pretty sure neither
of those players was ever invited back for a subsequent season)

Oh I agree he should have spent some time practicing fire making. I
just get why he may have convinced himself fire making would never
happen in S50
