• S50 players audition for White Lotus cameo

The Survivor IG account posted a video yesterday of S50 players
auditioning for a cameo on White Lotus. I'm disappointed we didn't get
to see Emily say some lines. She looks great...hopefully that's all Mike
White is looking for. I can see reunion time being wasted on Mike White announcing live who got selected to be on the show.

The continued fawning over this over-hyped, one-note celebrity who
should never have been brought back for S50 still strikes me as gross.
It's basically Sia all over again.

Based on his S37 performance, it made as much sense to bring him back as
it did the vast majority of the others. I have no issue with him as a
game player. The obsession with White Lotus is probably strictly a Jeff
thing. Speaking of Sia, has she ever said anything about Survivor since
being told to stop giving away her money to her favorite players?

I agree that Mike would be an appropriate return player based just on
his S37 performance. But once he started hiring Survivor players to
appear on his TV show and it became obvious that players on S50 were potentially going to alter their game play to try to get a cameo on the
show, I think that crossed a line. If Mike had somehow ended up winning
the season and it came out that other players were deliberately keeping
him in the game because they didn't want to jeopardize their chances to
appear on White Lotus, I think it could have caused a problem for the
show. I suspect the people at Standards and Practices may have breathed
a sigh of relief when he was voted out.

In a way it reminds me a bit of a small moment that happened on the live reunion of Survivor 18 (Tocantins) that many people probably missed.
Jeff was interviewing JT who let slip that Stephen Fishbach was going to
help him invest his winnings, since Fishbach had had financial
investment experience. He implied that he and Fishbach were considering
going into partnership together on some projects. Stephen quickly interrupted to make clear that he and JT did not have any agreement on
this because I think he knew the show had rules about players not
sharing winnings or colluding in any way about their winnings during the
    game.

As far as I recall, Sia has never publicly commented on why she stopped
her prizes, whether it was strictly her doing or the show's. I assumed
a big part of it was related to the fact that by the time of the New Era shows, they were no longer doing the Live Reunions, so the last few
years of the award she wasn't getting a lot of publicity out of it.

I'm not sure about that. Even if they only earn minimum union scale
(which I believe is around $1200 for a day's work on a speaking role),
just getting the chance to appear on a major TV series seen by millions
of people is enormously appealing to a lot of people, especially those
    with aspirations to become actors.

Yeah, but the show has very clear rules prohibiting players from
discussing or colluding about their earnings from the show while
filming, and especially making any agreements about working together for
money after the season ends. There was a major controversy during the
Fabio season when the player Sash supposedly promised to pay off another player's mortgage after the series in exchange for their vote if he
    ended up winning.
