    Someone had just recently rewatched The Man Trap, and always had the
    same question. If their mission is to " explore strange new
    worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations," How does the
    Federation determine if the new life they encounter is a people
    /person if they are radically different from Terrains? For instance,
    the Salt Vampire is referred to as a creature. Yet she is sentient, intelligent, can communicate in multiple languages, and is telepathic.
    The term creature has never sat well with some.

    They hadn't come around classifying it yet.

    Could they have handled it better? Maybe. But this 'Nancy' did not opt
    for the possibility of surrender and dialogue. Communication was
    possible, but she kept attacking and a phaser on just stun could not
    stop her.
