    Starfleet Academy review of the first episode where Star Trek takes on
    Harry Potter in Kurtzman's latest release for Paramount. After all of
    the clips, I expected the tone of the series I got, but I never
    expected them to just push evil as the main point of the story. Their
    idea of "interrogating Starfleet" is an evil guy asking why they're
    separating murderers from children. It's not a high bar for morality
    but Kurtzman still can't reach it. On top of that the story makes no
    sense with the ship being destroyed and the crew doing NOTHING about
    it. It's just the kids running around fixing everything without any
    sign of security of engineers. Much like Section 31 they never thought
    about it, the show just needed something to happen so it does. There is
    no consideration of how characters would act in this situation, or even
    the capability of technology in the time. The tech goes from magic when
    it needs to be, to unable to detect children on the outside of the ship
    the next. Add onto that the teenage drama and strange interpersonal
    fights that would fit more among 8 year olds. And this is a hell of a
    series that isn't Star Trek, and isn't aimed at any audience.
