• Notes for 36ABF08 (Abe League of Their Moe)

Was this episode meant to be ultimately about sports gambling, or about several intertwined baseball-adjacent topics with confusingly drifting
focus? It didn't feel terribly cohesive, and lost me in some of the extra-silly bits. I feel as if even CABF09 had more actual baseball in
it. But now at least (unless there's been one I've forgotten) we can
check off the unlikely pairing of Moe and Abe.

    DYN:
...Jasper joins Abe in taking a descendant to the baseball game, with a bearded young adult who looks quite like him?

With last week's final Disney+ drop of the 35ABF holdovers, we're now
back to counting up to the end of (air) season 36, and the partially
announced schedule suggests we may get up to the usual 22-episode season (counting D+) if 5/4, 5/11, and 5/18 are all premiere dates. That would
just be treading water against last season's shortfall, though, with a whopping half a season held over again, and I am hoping more episodes
get to run before the season is over in order to catch up, especially
since *Fox* would only have run 18. TBD. But on that note:

Promos tonight indicated a surprise scheduling twist for the summer: "Animation Domination" is moving to (not being supplemented by??)
Thursdays, starting May 29th! How strange. I mean, I guess they're never
going to get Bob's Burgers back on the air otherwise if the summer
Sundays are sports events again, but there are just so many AD shows at
this point, it really ought to be both! However, this is a great
opportunity that I expect will be totally squandered, because the promos included clips of lots of shows but not The Simpsons. Followers of my
mad ravings may recall that May 29th is the ONLY calendar date (besides February 29th) on which the Fox network has NEVER broadcast an episode
of the show (premiere or repeat); when it's a Sunday, it's usually taken
up by a Memorial Day Nascar race. And now the plan is to use a Thursday
for a summer season that starts on that date! A PERFECT CHANCE to tick
that box, bring some (IP recognition) cachet at least to the inaugural
date, extend the air season a bit to work on that holdover debt, etc.!
It doesn't seem to be a fully announced schedule yet, but going off that promo, I don't think I can hold my breath. What a shame!

When it finally got to the sports gambling part, I got the impression
that was the message the episode was trying to convey...but they sure
took their time getting to it.

Perhaps, but it did more or less coincide with the *start* of baseball season...
