I have been lurking on this NG for a while and decided this was a good

to jump in. I recognize some of the other posters from the Remarq L&O
NG. Glad to see all of you!!

Fred Chalfy was a L&O property master and set dresser who'd been with the show since its beginning; he also worked on a number of other tv shows and films, including "Friday the Thirteenth Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" and "Eddie & the Cruisers." He was a longtime member of the Motion Picture Studio Mechanics Union, Local 52 of IATSE, and was a month shy of his 54th birthday when he died, leaving one son, Dylan. https://www.ancientfaces.com/person/fred-chalfy-birth-1947-death-2001/14956137
Anthony Monteforte was a born and raised New Jerseyan who worked for David's Craft Food Services on the L&O set. Obituary notices indicate he died of cancer when he was only 40. He left no survivors other than his beloved dog Sasha, two siblings, his niece Dawn, and his mother Gloria. https://www.ancientfaces.com/person/anthony-p-monteforte-birth-1959-death-2001/19799639
I saw the L&O episode ("Deep Vote") with the closing card naming Chalfy and Monteforte just now on WE, and was curious about who they were and why they were memorialized that way. I think it's really touching that some of us out here are thinking about these two young men two decades after they left us, and that L&O paid tribute to them on that closing card. I hope anyone who reads this is granted a similar grace when it's our turn to go.
May they both rest in peace and their families be comforted.
