• Monday's Ep: Joss in Hospital

Why has Joss been made up to look like Sheena the Jungle Queen? She's in
a hospital in a modern city, not swinging through the trees on a vine.
Is it because the only people allowed in to see her are men, that no one
thinks to give her access to a mirror and grooming aids? Maybe if Carly
stops smearing around on that cockroach long enough to check in on her daughter, she might loan the girl her comb.

To be fair, I never noticed her appearance.

I was more captivated by the halting throaty delivery meant to simulate
    gunshot victimhood.

At times, she reminded me of rCLMalcolm in the MiddlerCY character, wheelchair bound asthmatic, little Stevie, voiced by Craig Lamar Traylor.

I'm not familiar with that show, but that was a cute video. As for Joss,
I couldn't get past the hair to really focus her voice. She just sounded
to me like she was trying to imitate someone with low energy, without
knowing what low energy actually feels like.

I just figured that the Make-up person was trying to make Joss look like someone who'd been through a near-death experience. But you are right!
She did look like the Jungle Queen.

I actually enjoyed those scenes with Carly and Joss. They were in a
common real-world situation: Joss is choosing a profession her mother is totally opposed to, and Carly is desperately trying to convince Joss not
to make that choice. And in real life the danger is usually not as high
    as working for the WSB.

This was one of my favorite shows during initial first run. Great Sunday
night silly light fare prelude to upcoming Monday back to work slog.

The original is streaming on Disney. It has also had a four episode
    revival on Disney.

Bryan Cranston, MalcolmrCOs dad, is more familiar to those who watched rCLBreaking BadrCY.

If you ever decide to watch any of it, it is a great diversion.

This below episode, however, is the one that stuck with me over the
    decades. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0640396/

Bryan Cranston on skates. That is when I decided he was a genius actor.

The other thing I enjoyed was the music. Mostly performed by Mark
    Mothersbaugh (Devo, Whip It fame).

I guess I am a kook. If I found out my kid was doing that kind of work, I would be proud and supportive. Scared and always anxious, but still proud.

There is a certain irony, tho, to Carly knowingly exposing Joss to Sonny
    danger all those years.

Feeling proud about the work is apples, and being terrified for your
child's safety in doing the work is oranges. Carly might feel proud that
Joss has the character to be pulled towards a noble calling, but her
objection was oranges based. Apples never made it into the conversation,
tho we might have heard from them had Joss agreed to leave the WSB.

That said, Joss might be an adult in the eyes of the law, but she's
still at an impressionable age and not experienced in the ways of the
world. Then along comes someone older, trained in manipulation
strategies, who exploits her for his own ends. And the result is someone
barely out of their childhood lying in a hospital bed with gunshot
wound. I would be on the warpath, too, in Carly's place. I'll leave it
there, because I don't know how I would deal with Brennan. But I do know
that he would regret ever having crossed me. Wasn't that the gist of
    what Carly told him?

Yes. With Carly, it's usually "Do as I Say, Not as I Do."

    [Re Joss's low energy bit:]

    She just sounded
to me like she was trying to imitate someone with low energy, without
knowing what low energy actually feels like.

I was wondering why she was still doing the low energy imitation on
Friday when she was no longer at death's door and should have been
feeling better. Then it occurred that it's not low energy that she's
imitating now, but a mature adult. She's trying to come off as someone
who has seen and done it all and is mature beyond her years, the
implication being that this newfound maturity was brought about by
worldly experience as an international secret agent (something she
trained for by kick boxing with Vaughan for a few weeks). It'll be
interesting to see how well she can imitate a mature adult when she's
back at work as Agent Jacks. I have my doubts that she can pull it
off--she's Carly's daughter after all. But kudos for finally combing her
    hair.
