    IIRC RT is DECnet II or III, and doesn't understand areas. I don't
    remember whether an area router can make it possible for the RT machine
    to talk to anything non-local.

    It would be at least phase III. But basically, if so, you would be
    limited to talk to other nodes in the same area, and only nodes with a
    number <256.

    But the biggest problem is that noone seems to have actually seen DECnet-RT.
