On that page I speculate that maybe some Roma (Romany, gypsy)
people had placed the candles there as a tribute to Kali Sara,
who I think is the same as my deity Cosma (spacetime and
    its contents).

But due to the 19 year metonic cycle, once again in
the early hours of Jan. 1, 2014 there will be a
new moon at New Year's. The exact time of that
new moon will be 3:14 a.m. Vancouver time, so
about when people will be getting home from
New Year's Eve celebrations. I wonder if there
will again be candles placed on Kits Beach to
await the rising tide. If I am there then,
which is unlikely, I plan to drop by the beach
but would not again touch a candle.

If I am not there then maybe one of my readers
    could check out the beach.

    Interesting!
