And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the
Gentiles had also received the word of God. When they took hold of
thee by thy hand, thou didst break, and rend all their shoulder: and
when they leaned upon thee, thou brakest, and madest all their loins
to be at a stand. For when they came into the house, he lay on his
bed in his bedchamber, and they smote him, and slew him, and
beheaded him, and took his head, and gat them away through the plain
all night. And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass,
which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and
harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it. And out of
the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to
the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of
the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But if ye
will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then
it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall
be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you
in the land wherein ye dwell. And in that day seven women shall take
hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own
apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our
reproach. And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and
put themselves in array at Baaltamar: and the liers in wait of
Israel came forth out of their places, even out of the meadows of
Gibeah.
My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without
hope. Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of
strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for
reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is
a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away,
that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of
God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw
corruption: But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. For
who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? According to all
these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak
unto And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who
am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me
hitherto? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence,
but abide here fast by my maidens: Let thine eyes be on the field
that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the
young men that they shall not touch thee? And Moses said, Thou must
give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice
unto the LORD our God.
