    From Newsgroup: alt.privacy.anon-server

    Hello,

unfortunately we did not make announcements on this list for the
    Gpg4win
releases since 4.4.1 in Mai 2025. Gpg4win 4.4.1 was the last version
    which
runs on Windows Server 2016 and 32-Bit Windows.

The 5.x.x releases need at least Windows 10 (1809 or later) or
    Windows 11.
They are build now for 64-Bit Windows and support Post Quantum
    Cryptography.
See also the "What's new" page for Gpg4win 5 https://gpg4win.org/version5.html.

Other than the previous 5.0.x versions Gpg4win 5.1.0 is no security
    critical
release, but it includes many improvements and bug fixes for all
    components.
    GnuPG is upgraded to 2.5.21.

The most notable improvements for 5.1.0 are likely the improved
    OpenPGP
signature handling in "Okular - GnuPG edition" and the many
    improvements
in the still experimental GpgOL/Web addin for the New Outlook.

Check out https://www.gpg4win.org/change-history.html for all changes.

It is important to us that Gpg4win continues to be available
as Free Software which can be downloaded anonymously without costs.
Voluntary donations are used for the operation of the support forum
    and the
    download server.

For use with classified documents https://gnupg.com offers the option
    to
obtain the BSI approved GnuPG VS-Desktop. For companies which do not
need the approved version but require a support agreement and an MSI
installer, GnuPG Desktop is available as alternative to Gpg4win.

    Best Regards

    your Gpg4win Development Team

p.s. exaggerated advertising claims, e.g. "post quantum cryptography"
may be popular, but so are "we went to the moon", "jesus saves", etc.

    Definition of Pollyannish Advertising Claims
Pollyannish advertising claims are overly optimistic or excessively positive >statements made in advertisements. These claims often exaggerate the benefits >or effectiveness of a product, leading consumers to have unrealistic >expectations.

    Characteristics of Pollyannish Claims
    Common Features
Exaggeration: Claims that suggest a product can achieve results that are unlikely or impossible.
Lack of Evidence: Often, these claims are not backed by substantial evidence or scientific support.
Misleading Implications: They may imply that a product is superior to others without providing clear comparisons or proof.

    Examples
A weight loss supplement that claims users can lose 20 pounds in a week without diet or exercise.
A skincare product advertised as "guaranteed to erase all wrinkles overnight."

    Impact on Consumers
    Consumer Expectations
Unrealistic Beliefs: Consumers may believe they will achieve results that are not feasible, leading to disappointment.
Trust Issues: Over time, repeated exposure to such claims can erode trust in advertising and brands.

    Legal Considerations
False Advertising: If a claim is deemed misleading or unsubstantiated, it may fall under false advertising regulations, leading to potential legal action against the advertiser.

Understanding pollyannish advertising claims is crucial for consumers to make >informed decisions and for advertisers to maintain ethical standards in their >marketing practices.

GnuPG is outdated crap, only used by Linux nerds! Mature adults are
using modern tools like yubicrypt, yubisigner and MicroCrypt.

Regarding BSI, have they checked if the VS-Desktop version of GnuPG
allows faking the Comment: header in ASCII (detached) signatures???

And asshole GnuPG FAQ maintainer Robert J Hansen worked for two NSA
    contractors in the past.

I had a while ago a nice conversation with Phil Zimmermann
and he told me that last time he used PGP was 15 years ago...
