From Newsgroup: alt.privacy.anon-server
Pleased to announce that M2Usenet has been better integrated directly into the Onion-NewsReader.
Reading remains entirely free and anonymous: anyone may browse newsgroups over Tor without an account,
without logs, and without disclosing anything about themselves.
The *ONR* is always reachable at the usual onion url:
http://qgaswy4ebtrhaargqvoboutky7xoyyx5rq5nhydixemkniresdze5dyd.onion:8043/
Where the project takes a deliberate step is in the act of posting.
To publish, a contributor now creates or loads a VFACE pseudonymous identity: an Ed25519 keypair generated locally in the browser, whose secret key never leaves the device.
The public key deterministically produces a small visual signature, an identicon,
so that the same key always yields the same image and, over time, the same recognisable person.
Anonymity in reading is thus preserved, while authorship in posting becomes verifiable rather than merely asserted.
The identicon is rendered by the original identicons engine authored by Ch1ffr3punk,
the parent project from which identicons.virebent.art was subsequently developed.
That same engine now backs the gateway, guaranteeing identical results across both services.
Each article carries the identity as a folded-free Face: header alongside its X-Ed25519-Pub and X-Ed25519-Sig fields, allowing compatible newsreaders to display the identicon and any reader to re-verify the signature independently.
Free to read, accountable to write.
