Too many people are thinking in terms of technical solutions to online tracking
and fingerprinting by websites. I believe we're barking up the wrong tree
and need to press for legislation for the banning and (re)sale of user information
gathered by websites, including but not limited to tracking through technical measures.

The biggest hurdle is that government itself uses this information to
track, prosecute and persecute people, and are therefore loath to
outlawing this practice. We need to use our vote to overcome this.

What also irks me is that NGOs which are supposedly defending online freedom haven't
so far suggested this. This makes me wonder if these organizations are
nothing more than fronts controlled by government or corporate interests.
