If the volume and glitter of the pageantry were a good indicator, the relationship between the United States and China would seem to be in
great shape. Alas, summitry without substance can also be a harbinger of
great danger, as the history of the 1930s teaches.

This week Donald Trump and Xi Jinping walked on red carpets, craned to
watch flyovers, gave speeches at a state dinner and gifted pandas (China
is sending another pair to the Atlanta zoo). But the two presidents
didnrCOt even attempt breakthroughs on the big issues that will decide
matters of war and peace in the years to come.

Trump wanted to put on a glamour show, Xi got to see all the gold paint everywhere in the WH. He must have chuckled inside, is this guy for
    real?

Apparently they discussed many issues but no details on what agreements
were made. Trump wanted to portray himself as world class leader but
that did not come through. He acted more like XirCOs lapdog.

People in China got better coverage than we did, do they have more free
press over there? The Chinese were proud that Xi did well. Trade truce agreement continues, Trump needs that very badly to survive.

On the surface, it looked relatively calm but there are still simmering
issues below the surface. It could erupt anytime. One of the main
reasons for the Iran war is to take over their oil and control oil
    supply to China.
