It went down into the mid 80s just a few weeks ago,
but now since more hostilities have broken out over
Iran, well ....... kinda sucks.
Note also that $6 prices for US diesel fuel are
now being seen. This is NOT good at all for the
ultra-important transportation industry. The
USA is large, so most everything has to be moved
around by big truck.
PART of the diesel problem is that US corps are
exporting a lot to the EU and other foreign
allies - creating a domestic shortage.
Sorry, "bio-diesel" is not remotely going to fill
in this gap. Synth-diesel IS possible, but from
the most recent I'd heard it would be like $9
or $10 a gallon - the catalysts have become much
better but STILL not good enough. Have not heard
of viable alt techniques.
Electric trucks ? CHINESE batteries and controllers
with remote kill systems. Xi pushes the big shiny
red button on his desk and EVERYTHING STOPS. Did
see a US corp selling a good alt to rare-earth
magnets - good enough - but not sure what its
manufacturing capacity might be.

Sodium batteries ARE catching up to lithium (and
don't explode) but the capacity is a little lower.
You can buy sodium car batteries on Amazon though.
Still, for another few years, Chinese batteries
are gonna rule.
