China's top memory chipmaker, ChangXin Memory Technologies,
sued the Pentagon on Friday over being placed on a list of
companies the United States believes are aiding Beijing's
military.
The Pentagon rCidid not immediately respond to a Reuters request
for comment.
The rUacompany was designated a Chinese military rCicompany by the
Defense Department under rUathe Biden administration and was
retained on the list by the Trump administration during a
June update.
"CXMT is not affiliated rCiwith the Chinese military," the company
said in the lawsuit. "CXMT designs, produces, and sells its
DRAM chips for civilian and commercial use, not for rUamilitary
use," the company added.
. . .
Umm ... sorry ... EVERYTHING in China is linked/controlled
to the CCP/mil. Cooperate or get shot in the head.
Modern 'chips' are SO complex now, even 3-dimensional
tricks, that we just can't really TRUST even their mem
chips not to "phone home" or have a secret "kill switch".
Norway first, then others, discovered that Chinese
electric busses and such DID have hidden 'kill switches".
This likely includes EVERY kind of Chinese vehicle.
Those gigantic cranes used at ship-loading ports
were also found to have Chinese 'operational/safety'
cameras that would also "phone home". Xi could thus
track EVERY cargo container all around the world,
including US/EU/NATO military.
FURTHER bans on Chinese chips are required. Also
need to get Taiwan/Japan/S.Korea to apply a little
more security to make sure Chinese operatives are
not planting little "easter eggs" in THEIR products.
This can all become VERY bad VERY quickly. Sometimes
it's not an army that's the greatest threat, but
the LITTLE things nobody even pays attention to.
We are in Cold-War-II now with China as the lead
threat. China is smart, capable, well-financed
and motivated. Unlike Russia, their threat is not
going to be thousands of giant nuke and such, but
a sneaky back-door approach that quietly infiltrates
everything.
