A second immigrant in the custody of the United States Immigration
and Customs Enforcement has died at Delaney Hall in Newark, New
Jersey.
ICE announced the death of Edwin Jovanny Lopez-Cornejo, 41, on Monday
in a press release. The agency said he suffered a medical emergency
while in custody on Saturday. Facility and medical staff responded
immediately and called 911. Lopez-Cornejo was later pronounced dead
by medical personnel at University Hospital.
Lopez-Cornejo was detained by federal agents June 18 in Plainfield.
ICE said he had been deported back in October 2006 for illegally
entering the country. He illegally reentered at a later date.

Ummmmm ... "Medical Emergencies" happen ALL THE DAMNED
TIME. Doesn't matter if you live in a detention facility
or in a megabuck Park Avenue apartment.
Heart attacks, blood clots, popped arteries ... this
is the normal spectrum of things causing sudden death.
Affects rich and poor, 'legal' and 'illegal'.
