illegal immigrants from the road, citing safety concerns

Umm ... when I was very young I had a job
at a truck stop. The all-American drivers
were largely strung out on speed/weed/beer
and a lot of other things. Many hadn't slept
in 72+ hours and became, well, 'erratic'.

Admittedly foreign drivers who can't even
read street signs and such CAN be a problem.
Some come from cultures where if you have a
big vehicle then you're automatically king
of the road and everyone else BETTER get out
of your way.

However don't expect all-USA drivers to be THAT
much better.

On the plus, More Jobs For Vets. I can get
behind that. Driving jobs can pay good money
too - sometimes 6 figures. Military-trained
organization and Can-Do offer other useful
career tracks as well.

Slightly longer term - cyber/AI driven trucks.
Musk has already experimented with that with
SOME success. So far the AI isn't as good as
humans in dealing with odd road situations.
Five years or so however ...

And how long before yer plumber, electrician,
construction worker, is replaced by a Chinese
bot that won't flinch at heat or dirt or a
crawl-space full of spiders and snakes ?
