Centuries later, Ben remains maybe THE most
popular guy in the Founders list.
Super-smart and wise ... he maybe did more
for the USA than anyone else - both in front
and behind the proverbial camera.
Sure, the up-front rads get most of the
credit - they're sellable - but Franklin
moderated/shaped their every move.
He was also a 'wag' - into all sorts of
weird shit, even the "Hellfire Club" and
French royal ladies at midnight :-)

SAM Adams ... I think HE "Got it" better.
The Revolution, and eventually the US
constitution - it's MOSTLY Franklin. He
set the tone, the paradigm, ruled the
discussions, right into his very old age.

I have a huge thick tome of Franklin's
writings - have never got thru more than
a quarter of it, he was 'prolific'. But
it's all CLEAR - he was the Guy With The
Vision.
"Slavery" - sorry guys - but it HAD to be
perpetuated for awhile or there would not
have been a 'union' and it all would have
gone to SHIT. That's practical politics.
Not always 'nice'.
