DeSantis Sees Hurdles to Prosecuting Fauci

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis expressed skepticism Wednesday
that Dr. Anthony Fauci will be held legally accountable for
his actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, citing statutes
of limitations and the pardon issued by then-President
    Joe Biden.

DeSantis, a Republican and longtime critic of Fauci, commented
on "The Clay & Buck Show" after Fauci testified before the
Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee,
chaired by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

Fauci, former head of the National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases, repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment
right against self-incrimination while being questioned about
lockdowns, the virus' origin, and other pandemic-related issues.

"If you've been given a pardon, you typically then don't go
invoke the Fifth Amendment," DeSantis said. "You actually can
be compelled to testify if you don't have an underlying legal
risk from the conduct at issue.

"The fact that he took the Fifth Amendment either means he's
subject to contempt of Congress, which they could potentially
pursue, or he's acknowledging that Biden's pardon didn't
necessarily cover all the potential lines of inquiry."

Paul has scheduled a committee vote for Aug. 5 on a resolution
declaring Fauci in contempt of Congress. Generally, a witness
who validly invokes the Fifth Amendment cannot be held in
contempt solely for refusing to answer questions on that basis.

    . . .

I think DeSantis is correct - it's going to be VERY difficult
to get any revenge on Fauci, even THOUGH it's become plain
he was a butt-covering meglomaniacal narcissist with a lot
of crappy medical advice that put huge unnecessary hurt on
    the USA and beyond.

Too much time has passed - and the Pardon ... interesting
he'd need one ... is also in the picture.

At some point DeSantis should become a senator - he's been
a good smart guy. Alas he doesn't have the personality,
the "it", to be POTUS in my opinion. But, LOVED his idea
to ship the illegals to Martha's - revealed what incredible
woke hypocrites they were. He's also made Florida very
wealthy and important. Never forget Ron !

Oh, in case you think MAGA=fascist/KKK, his endorsed
replacement is a 'black' guy. Go ahead 'Squad', prove
    what racists you are :-)

As for Fauci ... if he can't be prosecuted, then PESTER
him for the rest of his miserable life.

    What actions?

Be specific, show what he actually
did that you think was a crime.

He lied. Why did he have to be pardoned if there was no crime?
